I just did a 7 day trip to the area in the first week of May and I don't think the CFO would approve a 9 day trip.

I did spend most of my time on the west side and ran out of time. I maybe interested in joining in for 3 or 4 days, if that's good with you?

I chose a lake view over the Vermilion Cliffs camp this time, but I could do anything in that area and I'll bring the fishing pole this time.

Jumping in for a few days is not a problem. When I finalize the route you can figure out what works for you.

That's Lake Powell. It was the last spot available on the east end of Lone Rock Beach. It was a little crowded for most of the campers, but it was at least a quarter mile to the nearest fellow camper out there for me on a Friday night. I know how to air down unlike most people out there.

    0505232020.jpg

I almost forgot to say it's almost a 5 hour drive to this spot.

I'm going to go camp here eventually, and it's a 7 hour drive. I'll get the required hiking permits, as I'm believe there are at least two hikes I want to do on top of the Vermilion Cliffs.

Yep. In the cove I saw at least 3 shad meet their demise due to hungry stripe bass. I gotta go back again!

Oh man - need to add on Day 2 @ Jacobs Lake, refuel on cookies from the Jacob's Lake bakery. They are worthy. And, they have multiple varieties, even if the only one you ever really need is chocolate chip! That looks like a fantastic itinerary.

When we get closer and final head count. I'll make sure to have the right stuff for the Italian Sausage Alfredo.

I will say, I like the way we were able to group prep and cook it out on the Kofa trip.

It feels wise to trust a man named cookiedough on this subject matter.

Yeah, agreed. I will bring a bunch of ingredients for tinfoil dinners. We can prep it all and lay it out on my table, and everyone can come and build their dinners before setting them in the fire to cook.

I say late August we will get a final headcount, and from there we can discuss food prep.

Haha! Good coffee and cookies haven't ever made me regret life choices, unlike the other thread about truck stop and gas station food

I have successfully reserved the Coyote Butte South area for 6 of us to explore on Sunday, the 10th!

With that, the schedule in the OP is solid.

Stuff that costs more than my wife thinks.
Interested. Think this'll be right before class starts back up.

Can confirm - Jacob Lake Inn cookies are still worthy. On the way back from N. Kaibab dispersed camping this past weekend, stopped to "check in" with the cookie counter. Of course the standard (chocolate chip cookie) was on the list, but they also had a Pumpkin chocolate chip cookie - yes, selected both, and yes, paired well with coffee. Their coffee setup was down - fortunately I always carry multiple ways of preparing coffee, just in case scenery presents (photo below not from this weekend) which requires it.

    Still excited for this trip!

As a random update, I will be carrying my little diagnostic computer (XTool D8), which can do things like reprogram your seatbelt chime, modify the number of blinks when tapping your turn signal stalk, and some other small things, if anybody wants those things changed in their truck.

Also, not that we will want/need it, but I have fully functioning internet service (20-50 mbps down so far), anywhere with a clear enough view of the sky that I can deploy if we all feel like it.

I'll get a few more updates about non-hike activities put into this thread here in the near future as well.

Well my previous late summer vacation plans blew up so made a couple changes in the PTO calendar at work so now I'm in.

In most likely will only be Fri-mid day Wednesday then have to split off and head back home but looking forward to it

    Sounds good.
We’ll have to plan the Alfredo for a night before everyone leaves

Ehh don't worry about me I'm a horribly picky eater and not a fan of Alfredo sauce anyway.
