New Member and FIRST TIME Tacoma owner. This is our second Toyota though. Wife is currently in a 21 Supra. We live in North Maricopa County (North of Phoenix), Arizona and enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, gold panning, shooting and off-roading.

We are active members in our local C.E.R.T. Organization where I'm the Communications (Amateur Radio) Task Group Lead.

Ditched my Ranger (you can see I've had a few) after growing tired of dealing with Ford service techs and the BS weaseling they do to get out of warranty work and design flaws. Loved the truck, just couldn't trust it to be dependable and the wife said no more going off road. Well that's a deal breaker.

We got into a 2023 Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4x4. Initially I wanted the Trail Edition but the TRD-OR was a few thousand cheaper and had some goodies on it that the Trail didn't have. I know Toyota has an excellent reputation for quality but we snagged the 10/100 Platinum Package - JUST IN CASE!

So far I'm finding this truck to be a very intuitive and well mannered truck. I'm still on the first tank of gas so I'll be dragging it out on to the trail soon. Just need to get the ceramic coat done first.

What Xterra? how'd you like it? I had an old 2001 as my first vehicle and it took a beating and kept on going.

    Welcome.
As for the stupid questions…sometimes I try to search this forum with varying results. But be warned: there is always someone who will point out what a moron you are for not finding it in a search and linking you to 37 threads on your topic…otherwise, lots of knowledgeable folks here.

2000 Xterra. Great truck and very capable off road. I was a long time member on XterraFirma under the same name.

Mine was a 2001. I was also on xterrafirma. That’s cool. I’ve never run across someone that knew about that site. It was extremely helpful. As a kid it helped me get up the balls to do the valve cover gaskets which turns out couldn’t have been easier. I don’t honestly remember my username on xf though. Probably some version of jpn though. Enjoy the taco, they’re great trucks!

Be careful ... someone will jump in and tell you that one day the transmission will shake itself lose "gear hunting" and you will lose track of it in the desert off Bloody Basin Road (Aqua Fria National Monument). Or worse ... PART IT OUT!

If it makes you happy, the complainers are just noise to be ignored.

Iyou have not seen this before, can order or buy directly from off-road shops or Toyota stealerships: https://funtreks.com/product/guide-to-arizona-backroads-4-wheel-drive-trails-3rd-edition/

Also check out the Arizona forum under "Regions". Classified thread, other stae-wide interest threads.
