That was with a 2” rough country level in the front.

Now I have Bilstein 5100’s all around. Set to the 5th perch in the front, with factory springs. Rear is the Icon AAL with a 1/2” shim for an additional 1/2” of height. This is how it looks currently:

    Thanks, Looks great!

I currently have Bilstein 6112/5160 with front set to level with the rear. Been back and forth on 265 vs 285. Just ordered 265/75 Ridge Grapplers to mount on some new to me TE37s.

Haha that’s so ironic, I currently have 265/75/16 General Grabbers and I’m pretty set on going up to 285’s next. The Ridge Grapplers are at the top of my list and I’ve been doing a ton of tire research.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on them.

I previously had 285 Yokohama g003 mud terrains but the MPGs and acceleration/braking took too much of a hit for my liking because I do a ton of highway driving in addition to off roading.

I’ve been eyeing hybrid tires as a middle ground between the two. I figure I’ve run ATs and MTs so it’s time to give the RTs a try and people seem to love the ridge grapplers.

I don’t have any experience with the ridge grapplers on the Tacoma specifically, or 285s vs 265s. I’ve only run 265s for similar reasons you stated and I haven’t wanted to cut too much. I see stock Tacomas and I think, damn that’s a good look. Then I catch myself down the rabbit hole if 265 vs 285 etc.

I have run Nitto Trail Grapplers, the MT, on my 2004 silverado. I got 80,000+ miles out of them. Absolutely zero complaints. I replaced the Trail Grapplers with Ridge Grapplers and got 70,000+ miles out of the first set. I replaced those with another set it Ridge Grapplers. The ridge grapplers have great performance on and off road. Road noise is minimal. Truly can’t say enough good things about them.

I run 265/70/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws on my Tacoma now and they have been great. I would say comparable to my experience with ridge grapplers. I’ve only done about 20,000 miles on these, still have lots of life left. The Wildpeaks were a bang for the buck back when I purchased them and now since COVID, they’re priced with the big name tires so that’s my reason for going ridge grapplers on my next set. I’ll have them mounted up on Tuesday.

Photo of my silverado. (I recently sold to a friend after 12 years of ownership. It was a sad day.)

Yeah the 265’s do everything I need, it’s just with my 2” lift I feel like they look too small now.

That’s a great write up on the Ridge Grapplers, I really appreciate the info. That is all I needed to know to be sure they’ll be a good choice. I need something I can get a lot of mileage out of because I’ll be taking them across the country at least a few times.

Looking for a little advice: I am just starting out in off-roading - kind of. I have a 2018 Subaru Outback that is lifted with bigger AT tires that I have taken on the beach quite a bit and on some gravel roads but not "real" off roading. I got the Tacoma because I want to do a little more adventurous off roading. I live in North Carolina so I want to try the Uwarrie Forest trails and of course on the NC beach. I really don't want to lift this truck unless I absolutely have to but would like to go up to 265/75R16 tires. Are E rated tires a must for off roading ? Has anyone tried these tires and found them good or not so good?

I see shots like this and wish there were a longbed next to my shortbed when I purchased my shortbed.

You can run that size without a lift and No you dont need E rated for off road but a 2" lift helps a lot. I ran C and SL for 12 years on my Tacoma and only puntured a tire once and I did quite a bit of rock crawling. Actually 20+ years if I count my 1st gen

Oh sorry i should have posted install date, i been running them since march, so far so good. I drive daily to work 90miles one way, all freeway though. Tread looks real aggressive, I thought it was gona be a bad daily tire. As of now I would recomend them price is cheap and pretty good name brand. I got em on sale ebay like 600.00..oh my bad they are 265 70 16s not 75...so price for the 75s may differ.

I asked Discount Tire about KO3 tire release:

“The BFGoodrich K03 tires are currently not available for aftermarket replacement at this time. There is a possible availability some time in August, however this may just be on the 285 /70 R17 size and available only to dealerships. That is the current situation with the 275 65 R20 size.

Unfortunately there is no release date at this time for aftermarket replacement for either size and no other sizes have any type of release date.”
