I bought an OEM Hitch from a 2010 tacoma and bolted it onto my 2008. I do not have the tow package.

I'm a little unsure if I can plug and play the wiring from the hitch into my truck, or if it's worth getting a wiring harness from e-trailer.

Does anybody having a wiring diagram, or a set of instructions for how to do this?

I would just get a wiring harness from e trailer honestly. I dont want to cast any kind of doubt on your wiring abilities. But my old Mazda had a u haul harness "professionally installed" before I bought it that never worked. It seemed like the right bump would kill all the lights. I finally got a p&p harness from Reese (I think) and had no issues the remainder of my ownership of the truck

If you don't have tow package, what would you plug into?

Is you '08 prewired for a tow package?

What does e-trailer say? They may have an idea if your truck is “pre wired”. My (old) Highlander was plug and play with the addition of a Lexus harness.

E trailer does show basically a patch harness with plugs from both tail lights
