Picked up my most recent Toyota- 2020 TRD OR in cement. Looking forward to modifying this one and hitting some trails in NC.

I have a long Toyota history, and long wheeling history coming from Colorado. Relocated to NC about 2 years ago and have been spending most of my time with street cars/track days. Looking forward to getting back out on some trails.

I’m located in Ashe county- if any other Ashe locals want to wheel or hit some driving roads, hit me up!

Enjoy some pics of the Tacoma, some street car things and my last 4runner

I have what i believe to be noise/vibration related to the needle bearing in front diff and thus I have ordered the ecgs bushing/install kit and axle seal. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for installers in sanford/southern pines/fayetteville NC area or driveable distance to have this installed. ECGS HQ is 1-2 months out and if able to have it installed before then that would be preferable. I have seen several videos for install and personally would prefer to have professional do the install vs doing it myself.

    thanks

Anyone know of some great car camping/ overlanding in WNC/ TN area?

I live in Raleigh and I'm debating getting a rooftop tent to make trips "out west" easier/cheaper/more fun, but I'm unsure of the rules, and don't see too many folks in the area with tents on their Tacoma's (or Subaru's).

I grew up going and working at a summer camp outside of Brevard, and I know of tons of backcountry camping all along the parkway, in Pisgah, etc., (I can practically navigate the area blind folded), but I don't remember ever coming across rooftop tent campgrounds/ overlanders.

Can you just set up your tent next to the road up by Black Balsam or Devil's Courthouse, for instance? Can you set up camp on a turn off down fire roads?

Any/all experienced advice would be helpful and appreciated.

Only place I know of is around Boone, Wilson Creek, Linville Gorge area. I get up that way every once in a while. Old NC105 is a nice little spot to camp.

Last time I was there, Linville Gorge was free camping. Free permit required for weekend.
Thats on the road that runs N/S on the west side of the gorge. I've only been there.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Yep, that is my backyard. I live on Winter Star Mt, a couple peaks off mt Mitchell.
Lots of good areas up in my neck of the woods, it just is on the other side of the mtn, accessible via HWY197.
