Too much rake

Good morning everyone. I recently installed an iron Man stage 1 lift kit on my 2019 Tacoma off-road. Seems like a really solid lift kit the only issue I am having is I made the mistake of getting heavy duty leaf springs for the back. So there is too much rake in the rear I was wondering if anybody had any luck removing leaves to lower the rear

 

Leave it for a while,throw some weight in the back and it might settle down .

 

Youre going to want to take out 2 leafs if you dont have any weight or plans for any weight back there. Its not going to settle enough to look right.

 

Yeah, if not hauling heavy, those are probably a bit much, but as @Hunter gatherer said, they will settle a bit. And hauling a load around will help that happen quicker.

 

Which 2 leaves should I remove?these are the leaf springs I bought. there are 6 main leaves and 2 overload.one other note is I will hopefully soon have an ARE utility cap on the truck which is probably around 200lbs plus tools maybe 400 total

 

Where are you located? I'll trade you a medium load for the heavy load!

 

This actually sounds like a reasonable idea. Unless hauling heavy, that HD leaf pack is only going to degrade the OPs ride quality.

Thank you for the reply I did put some weight in the back about 300 lb I'll give it a few days anyways but I still think I need to take at least one leaf out thanks again

 

I wouldn’t take any leafs out. It will drive pretty rough at first but will settle over time. Mine took about 2 months before they settled a bit. Still a rough ride if I’m completely empty but with a full bed and RTT on it, rides like a Cadillac.

 

I thought rake had to do with the steering angle on the front suspension.

 

Positive rake of a vehicle is rear higher than front. Negative rake is vehicle lower in rear than front.

 

Don't give it a few days.

Many people report needing to put on a good thousand miles or so until they really settle.

Look up "stinkbug" and you'll see tons of people posting their truck with the rear end way up after a new leaf pack.

They'll settle, it'll just take a bit.

 

Honestly, with a real HD leaf pack, it may settle some, but here's my rear end after years on a set of Deavers, and several hundred extra pounds in the rear of the truck. You should see it today without the Swingout.




EDIT: Hate to say this, but it's probably the wrong leaf pack for your truck. Unless you are planning to haul around 1000lbs regularly, and didn't mention that.

The leafs are made to work together. Unless manufacturer has specific leaf removal option, could be very bad ride.
I did same thing with Deavers and called hoping to remove one of nine leaves. They said no.
I changed to new set.

 

I actually don’t think it looks too bad but I kinda like rake. Put some bigger tires on, it’ll fill the wheel well a bit and make it less noticeable. Plus as others have said it’ll probably settle a bit.

Leave it alone. IMO rake is good , never understood the level look.

 

I ended up taking two leaves out. Dropped 1.5 inches. Also put the ECGS bushing in the front diff
