SO…. Quick back story on this… I have been researching online extensively and finally bought a set of Spidertrax 1.25” wheel spacers (black) about 3 weeks ago. I was thinking the 1.25” may make the +4 offset factory bronze wheels, push out too much. I’m not into that type of look and have been almost completely satisfied with my current set up from when I bought the truck. I had the dealer install 265/75/16 BFG All terrains KO2’s on day one so it already gave it a better stance than stock. The Trail Edition wheels also have a 1/2” wider stance than the other Tacomas but similar if not the same offset as the Pro though. I was about to just send them back but decided to try and fit one on the front to see how they fit and looked. Well, a few hours later, I installed ALL 4 and couldn’t be happier! It can be done much quicker but I took my time, applied anti-seize and the supplied lock-tite, torque to recommended specs etc. I will tell you though, if you have 265/75/16’s and the factory mudflaps, you will have to remove at least the front ones, and trim a corner of the black area in the pic below (circled in red).

YES, I have read all about spacer and the possible issues/ outcomes but did my homework, installed them by the book and set my trip odometer to retorque at 85lb at 50 miles to make sure.

All in all, I LOVE the factory bronze Trail wheels but only wished it had a little better stance. I was even thinking to go with 285’s in order to achieve this but with the added weight, possible cab-mount chop etc. NOT for me! My 265 E-rated BFG’s are already heavy enough. And this achieves the look I wanted and actually makes them perfectly inline with the black fender flare when looking down on them.

Hope this helps someone if they are thinking to do the same thing!

    Thanks for reading!

    D

just a heads up, pushing your wheels out affects the alignment and tire wear.

Yes, you’re right Auskip07! I’ve been rotating every 5K but may even drop that to 3K if I feel necessary.

And I’m not just saying this but it actually drives better with these on. Before I would get a slight “wandering” left to right over distance. NOT anything dramatic or that noticeable but I was able to feel it and now that has gone away.

Good thing is, in just a matter of an hour, I can remove them and go back to stock. ‘

    Thanks for the info!

BORA makes a .75 spacer that is a little more subtle if you're interested later on down the road. I ran them for over 5-6 years with no issues

Love the look. I was looking for some before & after pics just like yours. This post is 1 week late for me. I just added the Spidertrax on my 2023 TRD O/R with stock wheels. It's a huge improvement in the stance. I've run Spidertrax on all my Land Cruisers in the past with zero issues with alignment or tire wear. Just install as directed (Loctite & torque) and recheck torque after some miles.

Ran 1.25 Spidertrax spacers all around on 0 offset wheels and it was fine. As long as you check them every now and then you’ll be alright.

    Whoa! Really!?

I am asking specifically what alignment geometry is affected by adding spacers, other than scrub radius, which really only comes into play at slow speeds (unless you are drifting your truck).

I ask because, other than negligible differences in ride height due to a longer moment on your knuckle, and camber, due to the same, spacers don't affect alignment geometry because they are outboard of every adjustment available on our trucks ... so I would love for you to go into detail about how the alignment geometry, specifically, is affected through the entire range of motion of the suspension cycle.

    I'll wait while you type.

Thanks for waiting, So you're interested in how it affects the alignment geometry outside of the geometry you already stated? i can only speak from experience from the abnormal tire wear after 20k miles. wider tires, wider rim and different offset it led to gradual uneven wear spanning from less wear on the inside to more wear towards the face of the tire. I can only guess this is an excessive positve camber condition. Ive since replaced my suspension, changed wheel offset and got an alignment.

but really, point on this doll where the alignment tech touched you?.

Spacers or increased offset, due to the longer moment on the knuckle, would squat the suspension (a negligible amount) and make your camber more negative ....

So if positive camber was your problem (or incorrect toe setting, both of which can cause excessive outboard tire wear) it could not have been cause by spacers or wheel offset. A sample size of n=1 is hardly enough evidence to make a generalize statement like your original one. Your alignment and suspension were the problem, not the wheel's offset or any spacers. (increased width could have been a contributing factor to a nearly negligible degree). offset and or spacers did not cause your issue.
