    Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
    Same with a Duralast #5791, threw a code the next day. Went back to the OEM cap and cleared the code and all was good.

    I just called my local dealer part department and was told that "Toyota doesn't offer a locking gas cap", which I get, but I thought that maybe they endorsed a certain aftermarket one that they may have. He told me to be sure that the neck is rust free and that I could possibly pull the O ring from the stock cap and put it in the aftermarket cap. This Duralast one has a weird tan looking seal... which is probably why it doesn't work. I'm not sure that I can pull that seal out, it doesn't seem very pliable.

    Here is my contribution to this thread. After doing some research on the forum, I decided to just try my luck at advance auto parts and got the carquest locking caps. 2 weeks, 2 tanks of gas and a couple hundred miles later and no issues.

    I am on this hunt right now- I have read all our forums on this subject- and cannot seem to find a Stant 10504 with an "S" Stamp. I have been to 2 O'Reilly's and looked through 6 boxes all with no stamp. The only shown 10504 on O'Reilly's online is the model I have seen in stores. How are you able to get these online?

    I saw that, thank you. I'm hesitant that it's ebay and only $6 though.
    EDIT: I ended up buying a STANT 10504 on Ebay for $25, ill see how that goes.

    Is this "S stamp" thing for real or just a self perpetual TW urban myth? Only asking as we tend to have a lot of those around here.

    @Buck Henry

    It's more of a "raised S" the way I see it

    Sorry man, I was a bit vague. What I meant to ask was are these "raised" letter S caps really that different or superior from the non S raised caps that they actually prevent codes from popping? Has this been actually tested by someone here or is this just kind of a TW urban myth perpetuated by anecdotal statements made every day here?

    @Buck Henry

    I wouldn't call it Superior...it just hasn't set off CEL errors on the dash...and I've had it just about a year.

    I did keep the OEM cap just in case.

    OEM on the right.

    Stant 10504 has been discontinued. I ordered from two reliable places and they both substituted it with Motorad MGC791. I don't like the Motorad design because you have to manually lock it with the key after tightening the cap, but it's been reliable in my 4Runner for the past 5 months.

    I would try the CarQuest or FRAM locking gas cap if STANT isn't available anymore.

    Three types I tried all gave CEL errors.

    Just be aware that they can be defeated in about 15 seconds with a small drill and screwdriver.

    Gas thieves are more likely to poke a hole in the plastic fuel tank and drain it from below, even without a locking cap. I'm more interested in preventing the spontaneous vandal, they are unlikely to go to all the trouble of drilling out the lock just to piss in the tank.

    Spontaneous vandals pissing in gas tanks? Is this really a thing where you live? If so, consider moving to a town where people don't spontaneously urinate in other people's gas tanks!

    Carry on!

    Yep, California near a bar in a downtown area. Someone has been taking dumps in the apartment parking lot at night, the apartment manager is on the case. Someone was shot and killed about 50 feet from our building a few months ago during the aftermath of a bar brawl, not the first time. Moving is easier said than done with the cost of housing here.
