Other way around. The OR is decent for a stock off-road vehicle but a serious off-roader would be much better off with a SR/SR5 and upgrading it.

The 2023 SR5 does have keyless entry/pushbutton start. It doesn't have LED headlights, but the halogens are quite sufficient. Plug and play OEM headlight units are about $1,000 I think. The SR5 also has a quite cushy ride with 265/75 R16s too.

MT, Rear locker, LED lights and all the other goodies for less than the price of adding a locker make it a no brainer to go for the OR. Heck, you can get all that stuff with a warranty in the OR for less than an SR5 and then adding aftermarket lights OR a locker.

SR5 is a fine truck, but it's not even the best SR5 model.

Good to know if they added keyless/push start for 2023. the factory halogens are crap. I have had both and the difference is day and night. Although, I agree with the sentiment, if the SR5 comes with LED headlights now, I would prolly pick that over TRD especially if I wanted a DCLB.

Really depends on what you are going to do and how you plan to use it.

If you are going to leave your truck mostly stock I'd go with an OR as it has more bells and whistles. If you're going to do a lot of modifications figure out what those are and then make a decision. I started with an SR5 because I bought it off a family member. I did have to do a rear locker which the OR already has.

Nope! Toyota won't let you get the better lights without the TRD hostage fee!

I have a TRD OR. DCSB V6/Auto 4X4. No options. As basic as the OR comes.
There's something I like about that.

No one mentioned this. Did they put auto up window buttons on both sides of the SR5 yet? My 2016 only had drivers auto up. My 2020 OR has drivers and passengers auto up. Why couldn’t they just put them on all four? Or whoa, better yet, one button for all down and all up. That would be spectacular. Such a hard life.

Rear locker was the deal breaker for me. Went OR and haven’t looked back. All the other OR features are icing on the cake. JMHO. YMMV.

Correct, no MT in any SR5 Trim, you have to go all the way back to 2015 to get an SR5 with manual.

That is actually the only thing I seriously weighed when I got my truck. But it was worth the trade off of not having the chrome and hideous colored dash of the TRDs.

The only difference for me was the OEM Led’s. I’m not much for offroading and the sr5 had everything i needed still had 4wd and double cab. Saved some money and ended up grabbing the sr5 oem led conversion harness from fbc, dave is not selling that harness atm but it could come back. Love the sr5 tho. The only thing for me is the OR has the bilsteen stock but oh well upgrading my suspension soon anyway, both solid trucks

My TRD dash is grey... What color is an SR? Black? I guess Chrome surrounds on the air vents is gross to some, but I can't say I care enough to notice.

The push button start alone was a strike off the TRD. Once I saw that I'm like nope.

Give me keys or give me death.

For me the SR5 has everything you need and nothing you don't.
Unless you are into the serious body-damaging sport of rock crawling.
