Has anyone found after market seats for a Gen1 extra cab? The only thing i don't care for is that goofy 8" seat extension and the arm rest. Yes, it's a minor thing, but it would be cool.

Lots of people do corbeau seats. They have a direct fit bracket. I’ve thought about them but would want them recovered in OEM style cloth

I went Sparco, mainly because many other forums I'm on have said more bad than good about Corbeau.

Guess there's a reason for their awesome return policy.

If you can cut and weld basic stuff, you can just fit whatever seats you want from another vehicle.

Look at all the seats in current vehicles sit in them !

Pick the ones you like if your not able to weld yet maybe a friend that does .

Make new friends in your local forum that can.

If you were close a Pizza and they are installed.

    Good luck!

If selecting from a large pool of available Tacoma seats was like buying a pistol at a store that had a gun range and a rent-able fleet, that might be an option. I'm guessing the custom seat community within or among Tacoma owners is less than 1-2% of the overall. The closest I see the ability to sample from your suggestion, would be if there were a gathering of custom Tacoma's somewhere in my area?

Welding - I have a Hobart Ironman 240, a suitcase buzz box (stick), and a Hypertherm Powermax 65 plasma. From that pool of welding talent I can tell you two things for certain, there potential to do work, far exceeds my abilities. The second is that people who have the required equipment for a task (irrespective of the function needed - aircraft repair, woodworking, medical treatments, etc), often over-value their abilities because their equipment is capable.

You lost me on your Pizza reference, but I now know what I want for lunch today.

I meant from all current manufactures not just Toyota !!

Volvo`s , BMW`s even Lexus have some fine seats.

Many a person has showed up for a project needing fabricating The cost to them is a Pizza or maybe 2

Man, the OP completely dissected your comment

What he meant is, maybe there's a seat out there you thoroughly enjoyed whether it was a vehicle you used to own, or a friend or family member.

For instance, some like the sporty Recaro that comes from a WRX, or adjustments from an M series Bimmer or the sort. He's not talking about sitting in a bunch of custom Toyota's, he's talking about making a seat fit from one vehicle fit into your own. Very common as Tacoma seats are atrocious.

If you know how to simply lay down a bead, that's enough to make a bracket for bolting said seat into your own vehicle.

The pizza reference? Kind of my fault. I've done work for nothing more than some pizza and good beer. Good company beats a lot of things.

Not the first time for sure not the last.

    Might be a language issue.

I had that happen often over the years. A group of workers from all over the country can get interesting.

One part of the country it is a compliment another it is a very bad put down.

Which is how most of the well known feuds were started.

You make a good point, but I don't get how your post was so misconstrued

It being a Tacoma thread I ASSumed he meant try other Tacoma's with mod seats, but he later clarified. I won't try to defend my response beyond that as I won't be able as a new guy to fight upstream, nor do I have a desire.

Although, I will add, how could anyone not understand this so contextually clear sentence? "If you were close a Pizza and they are installed."

I do appreciate the constructive offerings and suggestions.

    No big deal !

People in my area would completely understand just what I said.

    A language issue .

I have Corbeau GTS II in my 2002 regular cab and if it wasn't a street truck I would hate them. You have to lift your leg over the bolster getting out otherwise you'll tear the foam. The fit in the cab is tight, I'm 5'8" and have the headrest up against the rear window but in a comfortable driving position, if it was an extra/access cab this wouldn't be an issue.

A lot of people swap in 3rd gen 4runner seats. I started making brackets to deal with one of the feet that doesn't line up: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/4runner-seat-adapters.622390/

I've been using leather 4runner seats for years and they are a night and day difference from the stock tacoma seats. Before that I had Acura RSX seats that were also comfortable, they just sat too high for a tacoma.
