I just want a decent handling v6 manual transmission smallish pickup. Seems like the Srunner would be a ideal for that but there are hard to come by without getting on a plane and hopping the truck is as good as they advertised on craigslist.

Is there anything from preventing me from converting a prerunner into an srunner? Is the suspension different or just different length springs and shocks?

    Welcome to the Forum!

i never have seen one but pictures.

Only the amount of money in your budget .

Finding and buying the parts. Check out the Street Trucks Sub Forum

I know the suspension sits lower then the pre runner just how it is done no idea.

rather then build a S Runner clone why not build just what you want it might be cheaper and faster then finding and buying hard to find parts.

    Good Luck!

This won't make a 6 lug PreRunner into an S Runner, but L C Engineering sells a 2" lowering kit. Comes close. Bilstein 4600's required.

That S-Runner in the Craigslist ad is missing the fender flares. OEM replacement flares are really hard to find. But it does have a sunroof that even has the rare sunroof cover. If it had the flares I would be all over this one.

You would need to do a full frame swap to a 2wd frame so that you have the correct suspension mounts that you would need to run a the srunner (2wd suspension)
Not impossible or even that hard to do but takes some time.

I am not trying to make a clone. Nor do I care if it's 5 or 6 bolt. Just looking for a sport truck v6 with a manual trans. I am currently using v6 rav4 as my bicycle car. While it works great for that I have always wanted tacoma v6 5spd that sits at normal height ( not lifted I do not rock climb etc.. ).

So the s-runner front suspension is completely different than other tacoma pickups? If that's true should it be avoided? I don't want a unicorn truck that's difficult to get parts for. I already have an old 240z.

yeah, I saw that ad which is why I am posting here. lol

That's about 10+ hour round trip. The few times that I bought cars with my luck it's been like 1 out of 10 times the car was as good as the ad. If I drove that far to buy it the only I would not buy it if it was a rust bucket or had a rod knock. Kind of hard to negotiate at least for me if I had already committed to a 10+ hour drive.

If it was local I would be a lot more picky if I was looking at just a normal v6 manual trans tacoma.

oh, I did not know that. thanks.

    yeah that's all I need.

I could not find any "1995-2000 5 lug 2WD extended cab, V6 with 5 speed " for sale.

I ended up just buying that s-runner in LA. The guy had a lot of recent maintenance done. Timing belt, clutch etc...

It needs window switches, power door locks, power window motor. I want to replace the wheel/tire combo. Right now it has some mud/snow off road-ish tires on it.

It drove back great from LA to san jose.
