Did u ever complete the tdi swap before going the manual route? Or research let u to this decision? Gonna follow along with ur swap got me interested as a manual was always plan B if it didn't work out.

We're thinking we can make it work. David at fast forward automotive is pretty knowledgeable on these tdi swaps, helping me out a lot. Worst case I keep driving my other 2nd gen and start the sas and a different trans

Currently waiting on the updated 2.7 adapter from NWFab. I have the older style Currently, but they are swapping it out due to starter engagement issues.
I'm frugal as hell, so I try and do as much as possible myself. And going down the logic convertor/stand alone TCM route would be something I'd have to farm out. And it would be more than buying a 5 speed swap.
I'm into the r155f 5 speed swap parts for $1300CAD, minus the $1000 I got for the A750f.

If you buy the adapter for the 1gr and abort the auto, you can go 6 speed. But it's a less reliable trans, got to pay an arm and a leg to get a decent used one.
And because you are DCLB... custom rear drive shaft to fit the RA60.

So long story long..... 5 speed was the most affordable route, as the 05+ Toyota Tdi swap is fairly new territory.

What makes u say the trans requires the maf and Crankshaft position and accelerator pedal sensors? The transmission wiring diagram u posted shows only the throttle position and engine Coolant temp. Based off that diagram i would think i only need to get these signals off the tdi for the trans to function. Trying to understand what's going on there

Engine load is calculated internally based on RPM, Throttle Position, and Mass Airflow.
RPM is derived from the Crankshaft Position Signal.
Mass Airflow is derived from the Mass Airflow Sensor and Intake Air Temp Sensor

The PCM will go into forced limited power/limp mode if the Throttle Body, Throttle Position Sensors, and APP Sensors don't all agree, so I don't see how you would be able to get it to still shift the transmission properly without half the engine sensors being present.

Look through the HP Tuners Thread, in a few of the pages there are some transmission tables/parameters posted. You can see what parameters are used for shift calculations.

I did some research on putting an a750f in an 00 4x4 Tundra and it seems you really need the transmission which mates to the engine for the junkyard parts plu and play game. For me I needed a 2uz 4Runner TCM, which I was unable to find here. The a750f itself for a v8 is only about 800-1000, sometimes free shipping, but without a cheap TCM that was not in the budget.

On Tundras.com we have wiring diagram posts for sequoias and tundra stickied: would be smart to do that here as well, though they could be up on the 4Runner site. Didn’t check as the 00 w/ bad a340 purchase fell through.

we are trying to do the cheapest repower possible now on a 98 2x4. Plan is to pull entire drivetrain from a Passat and remove the Tacoma rear driveshaft for fwd with floating rear axle, which I haven’t seen before. My main concern is how to keep the stock steering column shifter to keep the interior stock.

still need to make accounts on some TDI forums, but any chance your contact would be willing to work with us on this?

Dkensk this may be random but do you know of some one that makes an adapter for the r155 to mate a TDI engine too? I've gone down the conversation rabbit hole and I'm on the search.
