What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Installed the TRD intake early this morning. It’s way too hot here in FL to work on the Taco in the afternoon.

 

Replaced the serpentine belt today. Didn't take too long, but kinda tedious. First one I've replaced on a vehicle that still had a mechanical fan making access to everything a little more, erm, challenging. Only has 45K on it, but I had no idea how it was treated before we bought it in January. Seems like it was given some TLC, but you never know. The old belt wasn't fraying and the truck did come from California so not many weather-related worries. But it's really tough to tell if there are any cracks in the V grooves on these. Old belt looked fine though. No cracks so I put it back in the new belt's cover and tucked it behind the back seat JIC. Thanks to @06ltd for the clear and concise instructions. Let's see, what's next...

Just put an OEM TRD skid kid on my Quicksand DCLB.
SO much better than the useless OEM off-road skids.

 

Like probably most guys around here on this awesome day in Western Wa. I washed and buffed up this bad boy. When the sun hits it just right, it shines like the proverbial diamond in a billy goats ass.

 

Put a 2”/1” leveling kit on the rig, changed front and rear diff fluids, and put on a knock off TRD pro grill. I call that a good Saturday.

 

You know that part where you have to lower the bumper iso you can reach that hidden 10mm bolt? There is a plastic piece called a bumper guide, I broke that piece on my passenger side. Now I have to go back in and replace it. As is, there is small gap and my OCD won’t let me leave it alone. Just a public safety announcement for those getting ready to swap headlights. Yours turned out nice, and looks great.

 

I love the TRD rims, So want those !! Same color truck too as you !!

Watch those swimmers. Bad year for rip currents in NC. Your rig suggests you're experienced. Heading out to Fort Fisher this week. Where is this, doesn't look too crowded?

 

Last weekend I wound up clipping my driver's side view mirror on a garage door opener pad.. I caught it before there was any real carnage but the satin black portion of my mirror assembly got a little mooshed before I could avoid it. Oh well.... Not the first blemish, but annoying nonetheless. I can say I won't be spending any lettuce to fix it..

Luckily nothing actually got broken and the painted mirror cap didn't suffer any damage. Somehow I was able to pry it off with my fingers without busting anything (it felt like it was gonna break the entire time).... I guess this plastic piece is pretty forgiving.



I'm going to hit this with a heat gun tomorrow and hopefully form it back into shape. It'll never be perfect, but based on the fact that I didn't really fix my tailgate or driver's side bumper cover after getting rear ended, I'm not going to spend money replacing this either. Good enough is going to have to be good enough.



I'm really surprised/annoyed that the mirror didn't flip backwards....I guess that only works at higher speeds....I was moving like a turtle obviously focused on the passenger side ..

It just goes to show that even after 3+ years of daily driving this truck I'm still not as comfortable as I was in my first gen. I love this truck, I just wish it was a little bit smaller.. Oh well..we'll see how it turns out tomorrow.

 

This was at Fort Fisher about a mile down the stretch. The first section was packed, almost door to door, drove down a ways to get a bit more space and it worked out great. The current was pretty strong so I didn't let my son go in by himself and even with me holding his hand we only went in a bit. I grew up in Michigan, swimming in lakes and rivers my whole life so I considered myself a good swimmer and safe in the water... but the first time I came to the ocean I was humbled pretty quick by a big wave. I try to not let my gaurd down now especially with little ones around

Added a few things lately!

1: added the auto OEM tailgate lock (PK3B6-35JS0) fits great with the access cab SR.

2: Did a 1/2 seat delete with a bed rug mat platform

used this dewalt to line up the storage

then used this bed rug which fits perfectly for the back btw. Cut it up and boom cheap east way to have a rear seat delete with a platform.

My $39 eBay wireless CarPlay adaptor came today. Plugged it in, set up in about 5 minutes & works like a charm.
