Nope and prolly never will. Even as brutal as that is, I can see the pros/cons of both though! Like the jeep that plummeted down the mountain and the people got tossed out and lived.

Seatbelts are useful. In other news, water is wet.

Joking aside, seatbelts can help protect you on all terrain. Even if you’re parked in a parking lot, a seatbelt could help prevent injuries if someone hits you hard enough.

i think there was a little more luck involved in their survival...
    If they got ejected here:
    upload_2023-7-24_11-16-34.png
i dont think we'd be having the same convo

Granted if they didn't, they'd have a more pleasant case once it stopped rolling

i witnessed a Jeep going a bucktwenty down HWY 28, flew past us at 1am. we caught up with them about 15 minutes later.

Jeep on its lid due to a deer bolting across the highway.
their dog did not survive the accident.

you can cut this pie a million ways. the vehicle's roll cage/ body is suppose to keep you safe, better to be strapped in than let yourself be a human pinball inside the machine go wild.

I was of course referring to the image you posted. Completely agree on pavement I'm strapped in. Offroad, I'm not, just a personal preference and to each their own. I like pinball!

Pinball will never not be fun:rofl:

but yeah, i buckle in while on the trail, specially the stuff i'm typically on. Deeper water crossings I've not yet formed an opinion on... think no belts would be better to be able to bail faster

Hope I beat the highscore when my head bounces off the Meso molle rack in the back of the truck! That double points?

Think you have to error on the side of caution and where one especially if you’re doing any gnarly terrain. Ego stays at the TH

I wear the seatbelt most of the time, except when I have to get out every 5 minutes for recovery (deep snow) or clearing fallen trees. Even bought a seatbelt extender to silence the chime:

The climb in the YouTube video wasn't even that bad. There's a more aggressive one in Holly Oaks off road park that I got up without issue following a RZR. Maybe the Range Rover's short wheelbase made it more tippy.

Thank you all for participating in the pole, some rally great input on the topic too..
At this moment I don't wear a seat belt offroading/wheeling/trail riding.
I think it hinders my "feel" offroad, if that makes sense. If I do start to wear a seat belt offroad I'll be sure to have one of those seat belt cutters handy In case i cant unbuckle it.

    Can't wait to start!
I'll always remember my first trail run in Moab coming to a side hill with new police tape. Story goes someone was passing a group of trucks, rolled sideways, fell through the window then his own Jeep rolled over him and he died.
There will always be incidents where a seatbelt saved a life and where not wearing it saved a life. But I think most of the time on or off the road they save lives so I almost always wear it. The only time I take it off is crossing water on a questionable bridge in case I go off and under water.

do 3rd gens not have a option to turn off the chime? i turned that off in my 2nd gen after a Gambler 500 trip where we were out often and i was annoyed by the chime while we were moving
