Anybody else that ordered one of those on sale tillers at Home Depot ever get a shipping confirmation? Mine is ship to store, so I know that's different. But, the one thing I noticed is the pending charge dropped off my account today and they never charged it out.

I will never go to single ply TP, get a bidet instead. Also use a regular septic treatment.

I just checked my account, it is the weekend, but the pending charge is also gone from my account. HD's website still shows the order on my account as pending with an Aug 3 est delivery date.

Damn, Sam! Now that is a generator!
A 480 volt 3 phase gen isn't a common household item, you could run a 40 HP air compressor. :D
Is there a commercial freezer, etc that required a unit that big?

    AWESOME!!

THAT is a generator! ok, so it has a 150gl on it tank & a 250 spare..... This is a good news bad news thing...

Good news: This is a severe duty genny & can run everything full time.

Bad news: It needs every bit of that fuel & gonna say it will use about a gallon per hour. This will depend on how many RPM's its running to make the juice.

on the propane: in my area they wont let you bury anything smaller than a 500 gallon. Your area may vary. with only running the things you listed? thats gonna last a good while. what your saving in propane.... you for sure will eat up in diesel fuel.

on the water system. Yep thats an old style pump with a ballast tank & what looks to be a softner of some sort. (even thought its only 9 years old, its the same style they used since the 50's) it works & you really need to find out what kind of depth you have on the well & if it runs dry quickly or not. THEN you can decide if you want to put a separate storage tank in later to have water to draw from & then your well just refills that. in drought conditions or tough times? you can always have a good idea how much water you have & when its gonna run out. This is commonly called a "lift" system. You can also get more water pressure inside this way if you choose to.

on the septic? lots of advances made in this area. the 2ply things used to be a real problem. now days its no big deal. all ya gotta do is by the RV toilet paper that they sell. it degrades really fast & wont hurt your septic system. TBH? we use regular Charmin or Northern & with the tank additive & no grease? its not been a problem.

should be a great adventure for you! Remember: If you like to be busy? You just made a good move!

absolutely nothing beats privacy. wife & me can go outside & do naked hot tub time or anything else we want.

Heh, there's no way I'm going to a bidet. Nope, no how

The 1 ply isn't that bad once ya get used to it.

I'll see if another charge pops up, or I get a pickup request. Not holding my breath though.

Probably run to a transformer and they are just using two of the phases to create single phase 208/120, unless they wired everything 208/120 3 phase. :yay::yes:

    Neat little (BIG) generator.

While I'm not in the habit of walking about naked, (nobody wants to see that... ) I do enjoy the luxury & convenience of the occasional whiz in the driveway. :D

I'm the first house on a 3 house dead end road, funny part of it is the surprising number of times someone has come driving by just about when I'm mid-whiz. - - :annoyed:

Previous owner told me that with both tanks full, you should be good for several weeks. He said power hardly ever goes out, except with hurricanes. The guy from the company that came to inspect the generator told me that if the generator is running I just as well turn everything on because it's going to use about the same amount of fuel either way.
As far as the propane I was told the only things that use it are the stove, the starters for the fireplaces, and the gas grill outside. The dryer is electric and the hot water heaters are electric. Heating and Cooling is by heat pumps.
The well preceeds the house by many years. It's on the Abita aquifer, which supplies many homes with Wells, and also the Abita water company that bottles spring water that comes from the same source. I don't know if all that means anything or not, but at least at this point running out of well water is not one of my primary concerns.
Sometime in the next day or so I'm going to lose internet for at least a few days. I don't do TW on my phone, so if I disappear y'all will know why.

sounds like an awesome set up!!

thats great news on the well water!

on the genny: that tracks out pretty close to gallon an hour of run time. im sure many of us here have generator envy! that is a BEAST!!!

My concern is buying 400 gallons of diesel to fill the tanks and then having to get it pumped out in 12-18 months if there were no power failures. I guess in that case should I run the property on generator power at the end rather than waste the diesel? At least then I would get a cheap electric bill for the month...

you can treat it & gain another 6months or so out of it. SeaFoam is your friend.

but yes you can always pick a day or two a month & just run on the diesel instead.

since they have a minimum usage per year from my propane place now days we have been doing that if we have no outages.

just gonna buy some tanks instead going forward & then tell them to stuff their fee.

    is electric expensive down there?
