    Hello,

I’m shortlisting the limited for the fact I’m a city dweller and drive on the road 99% of the time and would appreciate full time 4wd more than a part time system. I’ve noticed non-Trd Tacoma typically don’t have atrac unlike 4runner that all trims get.

I’m not a rock crawler, just basic fire roads and trails to hiking trailheads that have giant drainage cross ditches. But has there been any news whether the limited model would get ATRAC? Or would I be better off with the unreleased 4runner / newly released Land Cruiser?

    thanks!

Don’t think I’m confusing AWD with full time 4wd, because none of the vehicles I’m referring to are AWD? I’m asking whether the Tacoma limited will have Atrac, because the current 4runner has atrac regardless of part time/full time 4wd.

I am curious because from what I know non TRD OR, like TRD sport trims simply have traction control that helps with 2 wheel in the air situation, which works but is slower reacting compared to ATRAC.

I don’t necessarily need a locker for my uses, but atrac would be a nice fallback.

A-TRAC only comes with the 6mt OR and Pro. MTS comes with the auto. Neither are available in 2hi or 4hi and probably not what you are looking for.

TRAC is available on all trims and works on all 4 wheels in 4wd. (I think)

A-TRAC and MTS come with a different brake booster. It’s not just electronics.

I have no familiarity with the 4Runner, but a quick look at the builder on Toyota.com suggests that MTS only comes on the off-road trim.

I was wondering if the 4th Gen limited with full time 4wd would have TRAC or MTS

My best guess is TRAC. It’s the on-road traction control and the limited is a luxury road driving trim.

A center diff (ie full time 4wd) is very convenient for getting around town on snowy roads. A locked diff (part time 4wd) works decently, but is not as easy to use in the same context).
