Congrats on your new Tacoma & welcome to the forums! One thing that comes to mind is if you park your truck outside, you might want to get catalytic converter shields. They’re always getting stolen.

My advice is just drive the truck for the next year then use that to determine if you really need to upgrade anything. I’m talking upgrades not cosmetic stuff. I drove my truck 2 years before I upgraded anything but in the first 2 years I threw a bunch of $$$ at cosmetic shit that had nothing to do with the truck’s performance.

No need to fix things here,,, that’s why you bought it right?

as many others suggested; OE be mat, ceramic tint are my must haves. Tune definitely helped, but I didn’t feel I needed until tired, lift, bed topper, decked drawer added.

    BTW: welcome!

Welcome aboard and I'm glad you love your new Tacoma! This is my first Toyota also, and yeah coming from a lifetime of gm and ford products I'm really impressed with the way this truck is built and the way it drives.

EDIT: I forgot you want custom ideas. TRD goodies are pricy but really well made and rugged. TRD lift, exhaust, cold air intake and skid plate are really good additions. If you have a TRD Pro grille the color matching letter caps are cool, also there is a bunch of color matching accents you can add to the interior. Lamin X film is inexpensive and easy to install on your fog lights and looks great.

There is probably 1000 more things you can buy and put on if you want, the aftermarket additions for these trucks is endless.

Do tacoma's rust? Does the sun rise everyday? Its the real reason toyota sells so many of them.

Just remember, you're on a forum where people bring their problems or general complaints. Try not to go down the rabbit hole and convince yourself you do or will have a problem that doesn't exist for you. Get too deep in here and it's easy to convince yourself you bought a hunk of junk when the opposite is true.

Apparently everyone wants to tell you about their favorite mods. I swear they are like Crossfit people... how do you know they are crossfit people? Hang out for a minute, they will tell you!

TO answer your question, no. There are no known issues you can fix on a new Toyota truck. Just normal maintenance and it will last long time.

Congrats on your new truck & welcome to the forum! Some of the best advice I got from here regarding the 'gadgetry' rabbit hole is drive the truck for awhile. The stuff I thought I wanted I realized I didn't need or want at some point. The old 'less is more' mantra comes to mind. Anyway, enjoy your truck!

Welcome to TW - I'd recommend driving it for 6months - 1 year to see what YOU need/want. I found I only needed/wanted a few things to make it suit my needs:

    - JDM Center Console/Glove Box organizer (Amazon)

    - Bed Mat (Toyota)

    - Carhartt Seatsaver Seat Covers

    - Baja Designs Squadron SAE Fog Lights

**Also have a Diamondback Switchback Cover on the way

Other than this ; that is all I've done. I have enjoyed this truck (2019 TRD Off Road Double Cab) - I bought it new Jan 2019 and now have just under 250K trouble free miles on it - many of those in 4WD. I am very particular about maintenance - I have a great dealership. I have my oil changed every 4500-4900 miles and all maintenance performed by my dealership.

Good luck and again welcome to TW.

    Congrats and welcome!

A lot of good mods listed here. I would add a drain line extension to the AC drain. Cheap and easy.

I would also recommend watching this video series on the Tacoma. I'll link the first of the series and the others are linked at the end of the video.

As far this drain extension, you really just need to blow some cosmoline rp-342 on the frame where it leaks, and be done with it. Some just got in their head they need to make more work for themselves.

The parts for the extension are cheaper than a can of RP-342 and take about 10 minutes to install. Not much 'work' to it. Everyone has preferences.

At the same time buy a few more cans and do the entire chassis. I thought costs were of zero issues on tw.

HA! That may be true! Actually, I had the tubing, small hose clamp and zip tie in my shop and its probably the only mod I've done that didn't cost me anything.

To prevent paint discoloration, you need to take the stickers off the bed now.

After that, the sky's the limit in mods.

The first one I bought, because any time my brother drives over he puts my motorcycle to shame: cat protection.

I got a 21 TRD OR also, its loads of fun. I'd echo what everyone says here, good tires, good bedmat & if you live in rust town, get some cosmoline on the frame once every year or so. Apart from that, send it!
