Got the China Amazon special carb put on today. Fired right up and adjusted it a little bit. Still needs some more adjustment as the throttle can be touchy. But it runs significantly better than what it did. Didn't bother to change the oil as it was still clean. Pretty sure I used a 5w30 synthetic 3 years ago...

Put it out front with a for sale sign. We'll see how it goes. It's kind of the wrong time of year to be selling a mower...

new genny is in, old is out & ready to sell.

young guy was a licensed Union electrician who is also authorized Generac installer. Insurance is happy, Generac is set up with warranty & happy, wife is happy & its all working perfectly.

took him about 5 hrs total to do the swap & testing. easy day for him, good cash & got what we wanted done as well.

some days we actually win one! hell yes!

Fall service on a 60" Snapper. 800 CC Briggs and Stratton.
2000 hrs. The only issue I noticed is a bit of smoke at start up. I'm fairly certain the exhaust valve guides (if it had any at all) are burnt out.

Quite often seals are not installed on the exhaust side, since they will eventually burn out anyways.

I am impressed with this B&S. The quality is much higher than what I'm used to. I bet if I did some research, I'd find this engine was built by a contract, small engine manufacturer.

Amazing amount of caked on grass stuck to the bottom. Found no rust thru on the deck even though there was obvious signs of long term neglect. Neddle scaled the deck then coated the underside with Fluid Film.

Oddly enough, at start up after service, the damn choke cable broke. Oh, well. I get paid the same for parts running as I do for actual service work.

This one is going in the hunting pack. I don’t know how many times I’ve went up on the mountain only to have a 6” tree/limb blocking the trail.

Those work great for low branches and small trees at ground level.

These rope saws work great for limbs high up the trunk as well as ground level branches.

What do you think causes the grass to cake like that, mowing when it's wet?

I had a Great Dane mower once that would cake all the time, dry or wet.

I just assumed the shape of the deck and wet grass and lack of maintenance.

I coated the clean underside with Fluid Film. I'm curious what it looks like next year.

we do this anytime we do deck cleaning or blade changes. clean her up, seal her up & slick her up.... cause we mow a lot of wet grass/heavy stuff.

    The verdict is in:

No seal leak for the short time I've run the engine... unfortunately I found other oil leaks. The oil cooler lines have hardened. This the clamps are not doing their job.

For those that said "change the seal", the seal is getting changed.

I have to hit Napa tomorrow for some oil cooler line, so I'll grab a seal while I'm there.

This has been a fun experiment.

Sorry about the poor vid. Hard to run the throttle and hold the phone.

on a slightly different yet relative topic-
i got a (free) 5 gal dump gas can. cool. dump 2 oz of liquid out think its old gas. get 35$ of gas in it and my quad carb is jambed. 200$ later it jambed next day. lesson- be careful about fuel and the containers. i feel like a dumbass holding 3 gal of fuel i shouldnt use. please be careful.
    full carb rebuild soon.
