I’ve had the 3 ton Daytona low profile/long reach jack for about a year and it’s been great. I’ve also had the 2 ton aluminum racing jack for about 15 years, and it still works good too.

Disregard, their sub $500 model looks close

But I'm betting the Eastwood is a thicker top

They always use metric to measure those tops but ideally you want 6mm which is close to 1/4" or better yet 8mm or 3/8"

It's a good table, @Slashaar and I have used many times to build schtuff.

The flip up has always been their welding tables; tons of Amazon vendors call it something else but it's the same one that HF and Eastwood sells

This is new from HF, and what stuck out immediately was "Kutch"

    Screenshot_20230930-085401_Chrome.jpg

Only 4mm which is 5/32" or, close to 9 gauge

At over $200, a sheet of steel and getting it laser cut locally is the best way really

But for under that, looks like HF is going to be a hit

Mine crapped out the 4th time I turned it on. Made a big spark and never turned on again. Went with a dual-range Porter Cable after that and never looked back

At the time, I just wanted a solid table. I can say it wasn't near what they are asking for it now.

Raw material is only going up and up

I just need to score some 3/8" for cheap or free so I can get it lasered here locally

I wouldn't want to ream out a ton of holes on such thick steel if my plasma cutter causes a little beveling in the holes, and I don't have a mag drill :(

You ain't kidding on material pricing. I really wanted a larger top but damn they were pricey even then.

I made myself a small extension to my table

    20230925_182444.jpg

Will cut out the remaining underside slats once I score more free 3/16"

    20230926_154934.jpg

If it wasn't for this, that table I mentioned would've been perfect as a second table/fixture

I've done a mod or two
We have the Jegs version of these at my buddy's shop, I welded a couple angle iron straps to the bottom and they've been good can really clamp the shit out of stuff without the table deforming first now.

    Nice

Yeah a little stiffening and it'll be solid for most people really

When I saw the reviews and stuff posted, I was intrigued until HF pulled it

Maybe waiting to announce it on their new tool Tuesday or Thursday ads?

I forget what day of the week they do that

With all the reinforcement, do you have enough room for the clamps to go 360? Otherwise you're gonna be cursing.

    Absolutely

If you look at the two that parallel each other you'll see that's as close to the edge as it gets

If you look at the half-triangle from the slat that runs perpendicular to it, you'll see all the room left in between

If something needs to go closer to the center of the table, that's where the holes come into play for a top mount clamp

I've made items for the city, county, and even Disneyland all on a flat surface welding table as plenty could be done without a welding table-fixture

Picked up 4 Braun T8/T12 LED bulbs for fluorescent fixtures and they actually worked. Hoping I no longer have to replace them every year. Winter kills fluorescents.

I need to buy myself a lathe, and or a mill...turn my own stops and whatnot for these tables

I made one, but would you believe I have a larger one out of 3/8" being cut on a laser for me? Should be ready this coming week
