I bought these tweeters and installed them the other day. I literally cannot tell a difference from stock. Are there some sound setting changes I need to make?

Maybe your ears are not sensitive enough to detect any difference. Mine made a huge difference in the clarity of lyrics and higher notes.

^ This… they won’t significantly transform your radio, but if you could hear them side by side, there is a noticeable difference in clarity. The tweeters improve treble, that’s it.

There should have been a noticable difference. It's not going to magically turn it into a concert hall, but it should clean up the voices a bit.

Have you verified that they are making noise? Maybe see if you can feel the vibrations with the dash covers off.

Maybe speaker quality has changed from my 18 to your 22, but they made a very noticeable difference in my system. Everything is much clearer with more definition and dynamic impact. Esp at louder volumes. But, maybe Toyota did the right thing and improved the factory speakers. That would be nice.

    I have a 2023…it made a big…almost huge difference. I have the low-powered non-premium HU.
Could be your hearing. I do have notched hearing (loss at 8k hertz) in my left ear from years of drumming in my youth and I could hear a noticeable difference.

I didn’t notice any difference doing the tweeter/speaker upgrade everyone does to their 3rd gens. Was pretty bummed for the 3-400 bucks whatever it was honestly. But I’m not a big music guy so I probably didn’t have the best ear for it.
If it’s not too late I’d return and leave the sound system stock. Save the money.

For those who are not sure about whether they are worth the price, just install one and use the radio balance to change between sides so you can compare. If you dont notice a difference. Return them.

I did the DS18 tweeters and Kicker front door speakers a while back. Huge improvement over stock.
However, at low volume or tuned to talk radio stations OP may not notice much difference. Crank the volume up and they come to life big time starting around 25-30+ volume levels.

If you have head settings on heavy bass, it won't be as noticeable as it will with higher treble and mid.

Not a magic bullet by any stretch, but they should have provided you much better high end treble clarity. I'm glad I did it and am considering changing out the door speakers as well.

It was a progression with me.

I started with the Subaru tweeters, which improved things. Then I bought "the $250 upgrade" off a fellow TW member (Cs coax door speakers plus a key amp) which improved things more.

Then I sold all four front speakers and replaced them with a set of components, and I realized that I should have just directly done this in the first place.

You and me brother. However, the components probably won't "sing" unless one has added an amp. I like the one I purchased from Crutchfield: Sony XM-S400D. 45W/channel, type D amplifier. It literally fits right under the 8" non-JBL Head Unit. So - I didn't want to cut into any of the OEM wiring, and took a RedWolf harness purchased on Amazon to cut in half, and do my wiring to the amp... Amp now just sits between the radio and the wire harness to the speakers.

I cannot stress this enough. If you are researching speakers or amps... If you want some expert advice, Crutchfield has helped me purchase radio electronics for 3 vehicles now and they really seem to know their stuff. FWIW: I went with a "scratch and dent" Sony amp, and all I can tell you is there wasn't a mark on it, and all the harnesses were new. Box was in excellent condition. I do not have an issue purchasing something someone returned but didn't use.

    YMMV

This is why I never pursued changing out the door speakers. I'm not much of an automotive audiophile, thus the stock stuff (other than putting in those Subaru tweeters) will have to do.

It is amazing how the amp makes the really poor quality rear door speakers come alive. I have not replaced speakers yet with the exception of the tweeters...

Yeah, I'm surprised that the kicker key is harder to find than rooster teeth. Sometimes its in stock, sometimes its on backorder for months. I love that amp though, its very balanced after you run its little auto-dsp setup. I have it in the same spot as you, just under the HU, just behind the climate controls. It fits perfectly in that little space and it really screams for a "measly" 50W/ch.

    Work in progress...
I notice a big difference if I am listening to XM music. If I have the FM station on I can't really tell a big difference. The AM talk shows sound quite a bit clearer. I think the aftermarket speakers are a bit lower range so you get more of the midrange sounds coming from the tweeters.

I am thinking Sony XM-S400D, DS18 Tweeters, and a Redwolf Harness for my Rockford P300-P8. How do you think this setup would be? Would i be better off with a Kicker Key 200.4 or Kenwood KACM1814.

Also after you installed your compact 4ch did you notice a big improvement to the rear speakers?
    Thanks!
