3rd Gen MT Drain Plug

    Should the drain plug be magnetic? That’s what I’ve seen in the past with it the vehicles and certainly what I was expecting. The MT drain and fill plugs appear to be identical however, and neither are magnetic. I just wanted to double check that before reinstalling.

    Toyota installs a magnet deep inside the transmission, it can’t be cleaned or serviced w/o breaking down the transmission.

    Adding magnetic drain and fill plugs certainly won’t hurt. I add them to various locations.

    Yeah, not magnetic. Never had a single shaving on my drain plug and I’ve pulled it numerous times.
