Temporary thread for a temporary lake ... weather conditions created a lake at Badwater Basin but it dries more everyday. The press tells you it will most definitely be dried up by end of month ... I say it *may* be longer ... but the mad rush to see it makes Death Valley NP a popular spot.

View across the lake, and at the full width across the basin. I wanted the view with amazing reflection of the hills, but waited for 3 losers to clear off the "spit" to the right. Instead they walked into the middle of the lake (only inches deep, and left permanent footprints after it dries). Eventually other asshats arrived walked into the lake and finally the wind ruffled the reflective smooth lake surface.

Cliff ... circle-annotation points out a location of a "SEA LEVEL" sign that is 282 feet up on the cliff.

Don't want to run afoul of the locals......why should they not have entered the water?

The area sees no rain most of the time. People walk in the softened salt/dirt and leave footprint impressions that could last for decades.
