OTT Tune

Are there any downsides to getting the OTT tune? My friend recently had it done and is really enjoying the results so far. I’d love to hear about your experiences with the tune, as I’m considering getting it done soon.

 

Like KDMAX Pro, OTT is a safe way to maximize your truck and get the adjustments they really need for properly throttle/shifts at the very least. With customizations to support your specific build, setup, and driving needs you have access to an infinite set up combinations to maximize your truck. Don't settle for the laggy throttle and odd shifting behavior any longer!!

There are some concerns that theoretically it could void a warranty.


Realistically the only concern would be actually being able to go fast enough to get a speeding ticket. A tune is the best purchase anyone with a third gen can make if they drive in any sort of hilly/mountainous terrain imo.

 

Has anyone actually had issues with warranty doing this?

 

If anyone has, it has been poorly documented. I haven’t heard of any, but it is certainly possible. The most recent hiccup was a couple people failing Colorado state emission due to their tune, that problem has since been resolved by OTT. There’s a thread on here regarding that scenario.

 

It’s a great tune, you will be very happy with it. The letter below is just one of many reasons why going with OTT is the wise choice. And, if you haven’t seen this, it’s an interesting read. Stick with OTT.

after 1st hand using this tuning crew i can say i highly doubt you will ever find more competent people. i have a highly modified supercharged truck and theyve been consistantly amazing. do it. monies well spent. they will inform you of what and why they do things. 5+star.

 

I've had OTT for about 7mo now. More torque between 2000-3000rpm, especially at light to moderate acceleration. Made a big difference for me. Really happy with it. Justin and the OTT guys are top notch in my book.

 

this^ if ott doesnt make you satisfied you may need a different rig to mod.

 

I've had OTT since May 23, 2022.

Started with Version 7.



My Sport is updated to V9, Mild Drive/Spicy ECT.

I've had no issues at the dealership...nothing mentioned by both parties.

My registration is good until 2028.

I have yet to hear of any warranty concerns, let alone worse, from any tuning solution and I've been around the community with many others since 2018.

took many years for software unlocks to happen on toyota ecu's OTT guys were the first ones to get into it. trd s/c tune on my truck was way rich and great for reliability reasons. they studied and imroved it greatly. my truck felt like it had a tune up with a way more smooth, easy to drive feel. then when hammer down it was definately more powerful. tailor means no blanket one tune does it. my truck is one of very few like it. they makes it the best possible vehicle specific.

 

I'm not sure you were aware but all 3rd gen Tacoma tuning is because of the OVTune (now via their tuning platform VFTuner). It is that vendor we all license from for any tuning file edits/creations and it is that platform that provides all the unlocked files. OTT is a user just like the KDMAX Pro tune group resources out there....and if you didn't know the KDMAX Pro group was the original tuning group. In fact, the owner of OTT (John) was part of the KDMAX group before launching is own offering. I just want you to know that in 2018 we all got access from OVTune, then KDMAX group launched, then OTT (and others) grouped to bring on competition. We are all without anything if not for OVTune/VFTuner.

There are of course other platforms for non-3rd gens out there....everyone is competing somewhere.

 

i had one of the first ovtune set ups for 2nd gen. never worked and customer support failed me so i returned it. and wont be shy to say i spent hundreds of dollars and hours trying to uplaod it. not for me. boo

 

I went another direction....but it took a loooong time to get proper 2nd gen support/recovery set for sure!
