Can you post a photo of the truck from the side? maybe some photos of the front tire/wheel well so I can see how the proportions look with the 285's on the 5100 set up?

Good Morning and Happy New Year,
I will report back mid week, 2017 OR replacing leveling kit with 6112/5160 set for 2' up front and 275/70/17 KO'2s . I currently have the SEMA 17x7 +4 wheels/on 265/70/17 KO'2s as well as 1.25 spacers and no mud guards. I would like to keep the spacers if possible , my hope is that I only need to trim the small 1x1 or so plastic on the back side of the front wheel wells. Fingers crossed.
I will dry fit without spacers and let you know what I find.
Stay safe my friends and cheers to 2024.

Looking to have Eibach stage 1 lift installed, 1st clip, 2” front lift, 1” rear block. Will 275/70/17 fit with no rubbing?

I have no mud flaps, bought it that way. Bought some Rocblocs, I’ve read good reviews on TW. Will give them a shot. As far as tires, lookin for a 275/70/17, leaning more towards on road but still enough for light off road. Any suggestions?

To the best of my knowledge all 275/70/17 are LT tires. It’s basically a truck tire size used on Dodge pickups from the Factory, so no P-rated that I know of.

these tires might be a good option:

You may rub a little. I did at full lock and stuff until I got it aligned by a good shop that moved the wheel slightly forward.

Verdict, no rub with or without spacers. Left them on since I think it just looks better..
Super stoked how everything turned out.

Well I finally pulled the trigger on the 17x7 SEMA wheels from BAM Wholesale.

Part # PTR20-35110-BK Toyota 17" TRD PRO Wheels OEM Matte Black for 4Runner FJ Cruiser

I’m planning on just storing my old tires and wheels for now. So I need tpms sensors and new lug nuts? When I was looking at the same part number wheel on extreme terrain they suggested I purchase lug nuts, is that correct?

I’ve uploaded the picture of my cart on extreme terrain, are those the right sensors and lugs?

Lastly, what tires do I put on em? I’m thinking 275/70/17’s obviously. I had wild peaks on my diesel Silverado and loved em, but even in C rated they are heavy in their sizes. I’m looking at Toyo open country at3’s or the RT trail, since they are lighter and have a longer warranty. I know the mpgs are going to drop, since the wheel and tires I am about to put on it weigh a lot more thank stock. But does 5-8 lbs per tire make any noticeable difference, if any? What other tire suggestions do you guys have for a 275? I can’t make up my mind.

I run the same wheels in gunmetal, 5100s 2in up front, 1 in rar but 285/70/17s with factory mud guards, tuned KDMAX Pro no rubbing, no cutting and way more power and I get 18 to 19 around town. I did the SL rated light tires.

So the stock lug nuts will not work with this wheel, correct?

I'm pretty sure the stock lugnuts will work.

Since pulling the trigger on the wheels, I've narrowed my tire options down to a few different options.

    1. BFG Ko2 275/70R17 - I had these on a wrangler years ago and they were nice tires. For this application they are only available in an E rated tire and have a weight of 55lbs. Since I'm a Costco member I can get a set of four for around $1260 installed.

    2. Toyo Open Country RT Trail 275's - I really like the look of these tires but I havent seen many reviews on them and am not sure. They come in at 52 lbs and I found them available through discount tire for $1248, before taxes and fee's they add on.

    3. Toyo Open Country A/T III 275's - These dont have a sidewall pattern that is as agressive looking as the RT trails or the BFG's but they have a longer tread warranty and come in at 51 lbs. Discount has them for $1212 before install, etc.

    4. Nitto Ridge Grapplers - 55 lb weight, good looking tires also. A little cheaper than the BFG's.

    5. Falken Wildpeaks A/T4W or A/T3W - I had these on my silverado 3.0 duramax and didnt have any problems with them. They were a great tire for the price. For this application they seem to be heavy, weighing at 58lbs for the C rated tire. Thats my only gripe with these, the weight, and I'm leaning towards trying something different.

I'd love to hear opinions on what I should go with and why. I am concerned with going up to 285's as I thought they would rub, but after hearing from VaToy, it seems like they could work? That would also open up some more options in getting a non E rated tire. But I'd be really upset if I bought them and then they ended up rubbing like crazy. Since the truck only has 8,000 miles on it I'm not ready to go cutting the Cab mount or other things.

Thats some heavy tires, step up to 285s SL rated are lighter. I like the Toyo at3s the best.

I killed one of the original factory tires which gave me the excuse to get what I really wanted.

Wildpeak AT3W 275/70R17 on FJ steelies. With the +15 mm offset they fit with plenty of room without a lift. No rubbing at all.
