    Hello tacoma world fam,

I drove my truck to work this morning and it started fine this morning after not driving it for maybe 2-3 days. However, on my drive to work i noticed a bunch of lights on the dash suddenly come on and then the whole dash and head unit turned off (truck still drove fine) for maybe a second or two and then it was fine. I've noticed for some time now that when driving with my lights on they'll dim when I press the brakes when accelerating but don't really notice any dimming when already stopped. Additionally, I've had an off and on issue with my head unit power cycling randomly, seems more often like it'll cycle when I press my brakes to slow down when coming to a stop light but it's not consistently repeatable.

Thinking it's potentially a battery (4 years old) or maybe a fuse or something. But no other signs of electrical issues.

New battery is almost definitely due ... I would to be safe. If the battery connections are loose or the battery is just fading out sporadically ... can cause odd behavior. People trust Walmart batteries and I am sure one of their stores has yours in stock today ... this afternoon/evening.

    Then report back.

the battery is suspect for sure. The OR has an electric brake booster, that I would assume draws quite a bit of power. Start with getting the battery and charging system checked. Regardless of the dimming lights; at 4 yo, I would replace the battery due to age.

I'm hoping so too. Probably won't change it out till tomorrow so I don't risk getting stuck in traffic after work. Appreciate the added insights

    Good point!
For as little as they cost, as small as they are, and long as they hold a charge,,, there’s no reason not to have one.
Add to that, you can easily help others.

    UPDATE

Changing the battery today, viewed the voltage through the OBD and it read low at like 11.9V. So I'll change the battery and see if anything acts up again.

When a vehicle must decide which systems to shut down due to low power, I would be scared of which items are shutdown.
