OK, so, I'm having the truck durabak'd this spring and I've decided to go ahead and do the camper shell too. I've been putting off doing some work on that thing and I might as well get on it.

In the several years I've owned it (it spent several years on it full time) I never once used the sliding windows, even camping. I think I'm gonna take them completely out before paint and replace them with solid plexi, probably a 1/4" abrasion resistant Lexan. I'm also considering replacing the rear glass with the same or even 3/8, so I gotta get the frame put and see if I can reuse it or parts of it, or if I'm gonna have to figure out something else more involved.

Infiniti died on my wife while pulling off the highway yesterday. Completely dead. Had to be dragged onto flatbed. Replaced the battery this morning and got it to start, but stayed in limp mode. Would die if given gas. Thinking alternator or fuel pump. Had it towed to dealer, extended warranty can deal with it

Yeah, the stuff I'm gonna use is UV stabilized and I'm going to put the same film on them I did my headlights with.

Thinking about heading south for couple days near the end of Feb, figure it will be warmer to test out the RTT. Looking to stay on the coast, figure we will get down to Delaware or maybe Virginia the first day, then spend another day or so heading south, before heading back north.

Any ideas from folks, places that are RTT friendly or things worth driving by or stopping to see, places that are worth grabbing a bite to eat.

Basically, looking for things to, as the goal is to test out the roof top condo.

Name a town, Dennis knows a place to eat there.

So, couple years ago my wife did an internship in North Carolina. It's 90 minutes for me to get to southern NH, and the climate is dramatically different. It was 14 hours down to NC and the climate was remarkably the same. Genuinely, I'd look at boogying way further south if you're looking at the end of February (Key West, level south. Maybe Savannah would be nice too).

That said, Kitty Hawk and OBX come to mind as an obvious potential. Another unknown gem is the crystal coast and Croatan forest. Near Morehead city in NC. Cherry Point is right there, so you might hear some explosions, that's normal, don't worry about it.

I spend a lot of time in southern Maryland. The winter temperature is typically somewhat warmer than southern New England, but sometimes it is just as cold. Research the "Eastern Shore" (AKA the Delmarva Peninsula).

I've been through a few bags over the years and in the last 10 or 15 I have learned to not buy a North Face bag before I can pet it in person. They really skimp on certain details sometimes (singles stitching where there should be double, zipper quality) depending on the model and series, and it's not always obvious by pricepoint. I'm not saying that's a bad one, just commenting on TNF gear in general these days.

I don't believe they make a double bag, but for that price point you could get two Sugpak Base Ops rated to -17C. Snugpak makes excellent bags.

 I have a plug in one for when we're at campgrounds, it's great, but yeah I agree. It's fancy dancy but definitely need to be ready for not having it. I hate those mummy style sleeping bags. Plus side, I also hate cold-weather stuff and don't do it, anyway!

Might be doing some early Spring camping this year though for some hikes/trying stuff out.

Yeah you aren't kidding about those prices.

Coleman is my favorite budget, but they're not as reliable. Something like sub-40 bucks, so you get what you pay for! I'm looking at one of these
    https://alpsoutdoorz.com/redwood-10-heavy-duty-rectangle-sleeping-bag.html

And looking at blanket/underquilt stuff too depending on what sleeping setup I'm using. Problem having 3 is I have to try to coordinate all 3 + dog + wife

I’m not a north face fan, out of the ones I saw online last night, this one had the best reviews. I bet lots were from fan boys
