I've heard the optima batties aren't as good as they used to be, but I don't know that as a fact. Just make sure to do home work on whatever you pick.

I asked the student if he spelled it right... he said yes (predicated on the name of a German exchange student...)

    Must be right.

    Stock-ish

Last I knew, Optima was owned by Johnson Controls but that could have changed.

I pretty much buy any and all kinds of batteries.

Big fan of Enersys. I've had great luck with the Odyssey in my first gen that is 8 years old and hilariously neglected and multiple friends love the Northstar X2's that get neglected to similar levels in wheelers.

For daily driver stuff, I weirdly have had great luck with Duralast Golds. I took a 10 year old one out of the Tacoma because I started to get nervous. The one in my wife's Corolla went 10 years too and went with the car when I sold it. Put one in her current Camry when the OEM battery gave up at 6 years old. The 6.7 F350 has some Everstart Maxx's that have been fine. Had them in my F250 7.3 tow rig before and it always started great in the cold even at 5 years old...which says something since 7.3's have to spin reasonably hard to make oil pressure to fire the injectors and they won't even think about starting under 40 without working glow plugs drawing on the battery.

The big trucks at work get largely Interstates since that's what the shop stocks. I've brought them all back from the depths of dead at least once when driver's forget to turn lights off overnight.

Johnson Controls was spun/sold off and is now called Clarios. Enersys is the other big company and they own the Odyssey, Northstar, and X2 brands.

I do a lot of work for Johnson Controls. Some smart people, and great stuff. I can't vouch for their batteries, though

Pretty much. I love how people get all tingly about vacuum insulated flasks, when Thermos has been doing it for 100+ years. And, They didn't even invent it!
