Thinking of this for the title https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_Theseus

Almost 2 years I found my tacoma had a rusted frame and was trying to decide what to do. This my daily drive but after covid I work from home so I decided to fix it. I have not worked on cars before and thought this would be a good way to learn. I have replaced a lot:

air cabman waterpump /timing belt kit
New frame (AT 4cyl modified for MT 6 CYL) with DMZ fab perches.
    Gas tank from donor truck
break lines and fittings from donor truck (mine were all rusted need to cut the lines to remove)
Wheelers allpro lift kit - rear leafs, bumpstops, shocks, front bilstein
    JBA uca
New zero rust Bed out of ohio
New AC Compress, condensor, and another part that I cant remember the name
Front diff from donor with manual locking hubs
    Coastal offroad front bumper
    4x Innovation Rear bumper
    4x rock sliders
    new fenders
    new exhaust/ cats
    new power steering pump
the 105 amp denso alternator https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/1st-gen-105-amp-bolt-in-alternator.630459/
Power Stop Big brake upgrade with hardware/hoses from https://adventuretaco.com

I was moving pretty slow and didnt want to post until I was done. Still not done but close.

Front fenders are not painted because I ordered 2000 tacoma fenders from Amazon. they looked good, put them on and painted the truck. Trucks all together and went to put in the lights and no-go. Tried to put the wheel well liners in and no go. Wrong fenders. Must be 2001. Also I measured the old fender at the bottom and the new, the new ones were thicker at the bottom which reduced the clearance.

Im running 255/80R17 Wildpeak on vision Savage wheels - full stuff have about one inch of clearance from the back. When turning it rubs the fender liner and the washer fluid tank. I don't plan on doing anything too demanding so I don't plan on doing pinch weld or liner adjustments. Springs are pretty stiff so I would need to hit hard to get my tire up that far.

This is pre-alignment, but I dont know if it will change much after.

have a 1" Daystar body lift and did some custom liners. I purchased a vinyl mat from home depot https://www.homedepot.com/p/Traffic...nyl-Garage-Mat-60-251-0900-40000800/206288861

I doubled up some heavy duty aluminum foil and folded and cut until it fit and then used duct tape to make it hold its shape. Transferred it to the vinyl, drilled holes where necessary, missed a few time and had to make the holes bigger but turned out good.

Did you do the paint yourself or have someone else do it?

I tried to get quotes but no one in the area wanted to quote a full paint job. So I bought a harbor freight gun and painted it - Restoration Shop urethane base and then clear. Upol primer. I also removed all the undercoat from the cab with a torch and goo-gone, then sprayed bottom with 3 coats of master coat silver.

I painted the cab around august, pretty hot, and it went okay but the clear wasn't so good - the bed was done at 65F and everything went a lot better. I never painted before so the bed could have gone better just because I had some experience.

Also, the hardener is supposed to be pretty nasty, I used a full face 3m mask and paint suit. The isocyanates are supposed to react with water so I put a fan mister on my output fan, hoping that it would knock down any over spray

I haven't had to post much during the build because most of the information is on tacomaworld. One thing that was new for me was cleaning up the rust with electrolysis. When I was pulling parts there was a lot of rust on everything and the wire wheel was only somewhat working. I tried electrolysis on the rear axle housing and also the third member. I had to connect the battery charger to a battery and then to the part for it to work but it did a pretty good job. I let it soak for 2 days. It didnt seam to touch the parts that had an oil coat - when I pulled it out the inside still had oil on it. After soaking there were pin holes so I replaced with a barnes differential cover
