    Greetings all,
I currently have a Motorola MA1 for wireless android auto connectivity to the stock head unit in my 2020 Tacoma, which works fairly well most of the time but will sporadically disconnect, requiring that I briefly unplug and plug it back in which is kind of annoying.

Does anyone have experiences with other android auto USB adapters which are more reliable, or is this a fairly normal behaviour?

I also experienced this with AAWireless, even when forcing it into 2.4 GHz frequency instead of 5 GHz

I ran the Carlinkit Ambient for about a month. It always connected and always worked. It's expensive though. $170. I returned it because I didn't use Android Auto as much as I thought I would. I use my ipod more.

I've got the Carlinkit 3.0 paired with my aftermartet Kenwood using Carplay and it does the same thing. Very random though. I want to say maybe once a month if that.

Similar issue here but it's terminal, apparently. The other day had my Motorola MA1 playing Pandora as per usual and it randomly disconnected. Usually I just need to restart the car and it'll resolve; it's been a week now and not only does the MA1 not ever reset to pairing mode, the truck itself won't register Android Auto through the dash USB at all. Tried a couple cables, tried resetting the head unit, still nothing. Also confirmed the software is up to date. Any ideas?

I had an AAWireless and returned it for steady random disconnects. Went with an MA1 and similar, but less frequent disconnects. It "seems" that driving under a primary overhead power line would cause the disconnects. I've since given up on it, gave it away and they could not get it to work either.

Yup got told the disconnects are normal by Motorola when I called their customer service. I think that's just the nature of wireless connections overall.

I have the Carsifi Android auto adaptor. Mine will disconnect too but honestly it's very random and infrequent. More often I get a second or so of audio dropping out randomly. I just deal with it, it doesn't happen often enough to be problem that I'd go back to plugging in all the time for. I had one time while driving north on I81 in Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre area It just wouldn't reconnect like usual. Probably due to strong local interference which can happen with wireless, or maybe it was foreign balloons over the Joe Biden expressway.

I have the AAwireless kit from my previous car in my Tacoma. I also have another car with wireless Android auto as a stock option. Both consistently disconnect from the phone in exactly the same places around the areas I drive, otherwise they work without issue.

Purchased this on a whim after you linked it, and it actually works reliably for me as well. Not a single disconnect with about 50 miles so far whereas the MA1 and AAWireless were typically every 5-6 miles.

It looks cheap as heck with the bad paint job and fake buttons, but it does work! Now to hide it away...

    Thanks @MrPP!

I've had two different adapters. One just mirrored exactly what the wired android auto would do. The other one did that and allowed any app in the Playstore to be on the head unit netflix, youtube etc. Both were wonky and never worked 100%. I don't really care for android auto period. Other than a really long trip if my wife wants to use alexa to pick songs I'd rather just use my phone separately and not android auto.

I've been looking for an adaptor because using a usb cord keeps giving me an error notice that its disconnected. I keep having to unplug and replug to make it work again. I've tried 3 different brand new cords with same issue. Could it be a needed electronic update its not giving a notice for? I'm going to order the LXJADAP 2 in 1 carplay adaptor a couple of yall mentioned and see if it fixes my issue

Are you on iPhone or Android? I'm 4 months with it now without any issues but I run Android.

EKIY wireless adapter for both Carplay and Android Auto. Got it for $10 shipped from AliExpress. It's a little higher in cost now, around $15 shipped. Comes with small cables to connect and I used dbl stick tap to mount above the Qi charger area. Works awesome for the price. I've only used AA and not Carplay.
