No Menards in AZ. I know exactly how many unusual-but-useful things they sell.

I tried doing the H9 and had issues . I removed green insert , and installed a yellow insert. Used Silvania bulbs … after about a week one stopped working. When looking at the connector, the plastic around the plug was melted. I had to carefully de pin and install a replacement plastic plug part. Went back to using H11
Not sure what actually caused the melting

I removed the green part and installed the bulbs, no yellow insert, still going strong nearly a year after the H9

I may just try that . As long as it’s something that won’t overload the low beam wiring or anything weird like that

I'm a proponent of the Philips H9 bulb swap and try to deter others from purchasing PnP LEDs. But if the specs are to be believed, it's very impressive that they were able to go narrower than their previous bulb.

Those look pretty cool, be curious to see how they really work. Ok, who's going to be the first to try them?

Not at $205 a set. o_O H9 was a much cheaper way to go.

All the options say fog lights is that a legal aspect of the only intended use?

I think that's the legal gray area Morimoto use to sell them. These would be too bright in a reflector fog light.

    They are still bi-directional

Yes, but much thinner in profile, which should help improve the focus. Would be interesting ti test.

Somehow I missed these. 1.45mm emission surface (if that means distance between emitter faces) is very good. A halogen as measured in the 3.0 comparison is 1.42mm. So it nearly solves the focus issue, however it does not solve the omnidirectional light issue being a bi-directional light source. Also interesting the 3.0s were rated at 2100 lumens and the 4.0s are rated at 2600 lumens. If accurate that is some cleaver cooling technology on such a thin PCB.

I wonder if theyre using a more conductive material, like a silver/gold foil rather than aluminum so they can cram the emitters in close proximity, or trying to extract heat out of the sides of the ceramic chip substrate.

Using a silver alloy? Silver is the best heat conductor. Put a cube of ice on a silver dollar and the counter top. First piece will melt twice as fast as the otuer one.

Just upgraded my girlfriend's 2011 Camry bulbs with recommendations from this thread. The output is excellent.

For the low beam projectors, modified Philips H9s from Amazon:
    https://www.amazon.com/Philips-12361B1-Standard-Replacement-Headlight/dp/B003YMPN3A

Modified to fit the H11 socket using this method:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mrbdQmck7E

For the high beam reflectors, modified Osram Sylvania 2011 HIR bulbs from ReplacementLightBulbs.com:
    https://www.replacementlightbulbs.com/lamp9011_12v_65w_hir1.html

Modified to fit the HB3/9005 socket using this method:

Thanks to @crashnburn80 for freely sharing his research with all of us!

Any plans in the near future to test the 2stroke 4.0s? Really curious to see how they perform.

You mean these? :) Yes! They were recently provided by @Dtax to be included in the thread and I will have them tested and share the results soon.
