Wondering who has this skid plate from Amazon and if there's a better aluminum skid around the same price?

How easy does it make oil changes?

What are the size of the bolts?
I want to get stainless steel.

    Thanks.

AFAIK, neither Amazon nor Alibaba manufacture skid plates or anything else. They sell other company’s products.

I have that one that was sold under another name I got from ebay.
The plate is fine, good thick aluminum. The only 2 downside were a few edges weren't smooth as others and the spacers weren't pre attached in the right locations. Two of the pairs needed to be switched to get it to mount up properly but after that it fit perfectly.

The port hole to get to the oil filter comes off with 4 5mm hex screws.

I did but wanted to verify the size also, stainless steel hardware is not cheap.

I might sand the coating off the bottom, give the skid a raw aluminum finish.

    Bad idea?

Quick question on hardware, I plan on adding stainless steel, would I see any issues with adding stainless bolts into the tacoma frame? Would the aluminum skid plate react to stainless hardware?

    swapped for clean, scoopless hood
I’m planning to install a similar generic plate. I do wonder if all the knockoffs look like they were made in the same place, like lostar, kuafu, and the nameless ones that just say Direct Replacement for PTR60-35190, PTR60-35160.
If you add items to your eBay watchlist, eventually someone will make you an offer with the best discount. Mine arrived a few days ago, but have not had time to unpack and attempt install yet.

i don’t think it’s worth bothering to attempt to remove the powdercoat. Plus who knows what the People’s Republic Chinese made the powder? coating out of, probably safer not to disturb too much of it in case it’s Pb dust. I may grind or file off any sharp edges. I bet would be too much work to neatly remove the entire coating, unless you have special equipment, or it was coated exceptionally poorly and practically peeling on its own.

i have a stainless center plate from millercat, and it’s black now with black fluid film. I will probably paint black over the powder coat, fluid film black the knockoff front skid. Same for rear bare aluminum skid when i get one.

there are other forum threads on these plates, but i’m also curious on verifying thread sizes and bolt sizes, and tried searching before without much that was helpful. Some reviews suggested swapping for new rivnuts was necessary, others suggested everything worked out the box as supplied, and others suggested new bolt hardware only.
Ultimately i plan to buy a sheet of steel or aluminum to make 2 overlapping flat pieces, to better secure the catguard plate, so if highly organized associations are looking to do some early recycling, hopefully they move on to trucks in whatever parking lot that merely have a single cat guard to remove, unless they are attracted to the extra challenge.

    What is PB dust?

I was just planning on removing the bottom layer of the paint for that naked look.

Mine should be here on Tuesday.

Well, I got my first one last week and the front corner was bent, sent it back for a replacement and the second one came today and was bent even worse than the first one....

I'm gonna try one more after contacting the seller, if the 3rd has issues I will look at another manufacturer.

I have the ECOTRIC version of that skidplate, everything went together really easy and it was in really good condition. Everything lined up, only issue which i havent completed fixed is the back 2 bolts, the smallest of all of them, for whatever reason only go into the weldnuts in the frame about half way. Guessing they might be the wrong thread pitch possibly, or the alignment was off just enough that it cross threaded. I waited a while to put it on because of the great weather we have in Michigan, the weather got nice, i installed it, now the weather is cold and nasty again, so will wait until i fix those back bolts.
Other than that, i really was impressed with it so far.
