That is nice! Rust can be a problem, but it really depends on where you live. Of course taking preemptive measures on a truck you want to keep for a long time is a great idea. But, I have a 98 that’s lived in Utah and Montana. One winter I sprayed fluid film on the frame, but otherwise have taken zero action on the frame aside from cleaning the truck as soon as winter weather allows after driving on treated roads. Frame has superficial surface rust in some places but no rot.

Out here these trucks are everywhere. Frame rot simply isn’t an issue unless it came from another area.

It came from Yakima Washington so I don't think it would have any issues really in that capacity. Not sure if they salt the roads during the winter but salting is pretty rare in the PNW if i'm not mistaken. I picked up a 6pack of fluid film with the 360 extendo tube nozzle to get inside the frame and will doctor up the truck this week :)

Bought a bunch of parts to take care of the 100k maintenance that's coming up. The previous owner had the spark plugs and coil packs replaced at the dealer. paperwork indicated he paid 600$ for those two things (ouch, stealership more like). Even though it doesn't necessarily NEED it since it doesn't have a timing belt, still going to do the water pump, lower ball joints, valve clearance check (plus gasket), blistein 4600s front and back, all fluids, thermostat, belts, and rad hoses. Anything else anyone can think of??

Sweet looking truck! Check steering rack and LCA bushings for play, replace the air filter, clean the MAF and consider getting the front end alignment checked.

There definitely is more play in the steering than I would prefer so I will definitely look into that!! Thanks for the suggestions:))
