Sweet, thanks for the link. Saved the hassle of trying to find this at a local store. BTW the one on Amazon is no longer carried.

Ace Hardware has them and so does Auto Zone. I picked up a couple to stainless steel washers at Ace and installed them at the cable mounts also.
My tailgate is going nowhere except for with the truck.

It is a good idea. However, if one has a lighter or a mini-butane torch.. a quick 20 second might melt that plastic zip tie.

I used a hose clamp with plastic key. I folded a strip of duct table in a hot dog way to prevent paint scratch.

folded a strip of duct tape & stuck it to itself lengthwise, wrapped it around the painted part & put hose clamp over the tape so the clamp didn't scratch the paint.

No problem. Its a bit pricey compared to the EZ Clamp at autozone but seems more secure.

Cruzin around Craigslist and there are a lot of Taco Tails on there for sale. Average is about 100 bucks. Dumb A$$. So a few bucks is a good deal.

I went out immediately after seeing this mod.. I found some clamps at the local home depot. Once you remove the plastic key, the head on the clamp is square. About 1/4". Is that what everyone else is using? Still removable with some pliers, but definitely a deterrent..

Anything to slow them down... I doubt they would bother even with that little bit of prevention. All depends on the surrounding area.
