Why'd you drain the tranny fluid to begin with? And the blower motor and resistor are extremely easy to do, but I agree the peace of mind is good. I've replaced my blower twice, and the resistor once.

This looks solid. I need to do this. Are car washes n such not a concern when the water goes down the windshield?

Because it was recommended by Toyota to do it every 60k miles, and when I bought the truck with 80k miles, I wasn't sure if it had been done or not. I'll keep that mind if my blower ever acts up again.

    Retired/Hobbyist old as f***
Broke out the old Taco for my daily again today. Gave daughter a good deal on my old 2003 Camry, with 98k miles, for my 16 year old grandkids 1st car. Not sure who is happier. I will miss the Camry but the Taco has looked sad and lonely mostly sitting for a few months.20240221_180457 - Copy.jpg

Not really. Cowl cover redirects most of the water to the sides of the windshield and the HVAC inlet cover redirects anything that may get through

Progress pics of the truck so far. Cant wait to get it back.

So far they've done all the engine work (new csf radiator, thermostat, water pump, URD cam gears, intake manifold spacer and regular maintenance).

Currently working on the front end (bumper, lights, suspension refresh)

Afterwards, they'll start on the rear end. (new carrier bearing, inspect u-joint, weld shock relocation and install suspension)

Once the truck is back, off it goes to get regeared and add a e-locker.

My old pioneer kept acting up so best buy sent it out to have it inspected. Came back faulty so they gave me store credit. Picked up a new 75 inch tv and sound bar. Only paid for delivery and set up out of pocket.

The third brake light on my shell filling up with water, time for a replacement. The stock ARE light was UV damaged front and rear.

    BrakeLight_1.jpg

Not wanting to shell out $50 for a stock replacement, if I could find one, I rolled the dice and went for a $10 eBay high performance special and $10 worth of silicone seal. The eBay light is nice and bright, I like the red better than the clear with red LEDs, but of course, it did not fit properly. Classic one size fits all but actually fits none but pretty close in most applications.

    BrakeLight_2.jpg

Liberal application of silicone sealer on the back seals a 5mm gap on the back, but it sticks out about that much on the bottom. If it lasts for awhile I can forgive the fact that it looks like ass.

The cowl cover holes don't allow water to get into the HVAC area. Make sure the cowl cover seal that is against your windshield is in decent shape because that is the only way water can get in.

This is the seal I'm talking about.

Where did you get the yellow film and do you like the result? I’m looking at doing the same thing, or possibly doing part of the light bar in my front bumper.

I had to run the wires on the front of the dash. I wanted to run them under the seal at the door but the harness was too thick. I’m not happy with it, but nothing is pinched or stretched. I’m sure I could make it neater, but I was running short on time!

    Plugs and coilpacks…. 2009 sr5 v6 4x4

Picked up six new denso copper plugs yesterday and stayed after work to drop them in. This is the first time I’ve worked with coil packs - my truck had 130k when I bought it - at 131k now.

Started on the passenger side, just because they’re more accessible. Pulled first plug and found an AC Delco that was clearly burnt and the ceramic had some type of ‘white’ grease where the coil boot sealed. Second and third coil boots both tore off around the ceramic of the plugs…. The white lube had burnt to glue….. So, I have no idea WHY the previous owner choose ACDelco or WHY they used the wrong lube but they effed it up and now its on me. Ended the changeout there and have six new Denso coil packs for pickup on saturday…..

And the gap on the ACDelco plugs that I did pull were way over 1mm (.039-.043)… WTF Kinda makes me nervous about what else has been done to this truck that is out of spec.

I’ve already changed front/diff and transfer case oil - no chunks, but some fine particles. Oil change and new toyota/denso filter (was a microguard….).

I just ordered a transmission pan gasket, new filter and crush washers - because I don’t trust the drain and fill method based on what I’ve seen so far with this truck. I have no idea/trust that the fluid has ever been changed and I want to see whats on the magnets and on the bottom of the pan/inside the microfilter.

Would definitely recommend. The film is thick, and easy to apply. Use a hair dryer to warm it up to make it even easier. Looks great and was under $20. Hardest part is pulling/reinstalling the fogs but its not bad either. I had my 11 year old crawl under and do the second one for me.
