    Hey everyone,

I had a lift installed a few months ago, and did NOT tell my insurance company (Belair) out of fear they would cancel my policy. I had shopped around at CAA, MyInsuranceBrokers, and some others - but every time they asked "does your vehicle have any modifications?" and I answered "Yes", they denied coverage. MyInsuranceBrokers seemed like they were gonna insure it, but once it got to the underwriters, they haven't answered any of my emails so I assume they denied it and the broker didn't wanna tell me.

From what I have read, everyone just denies that any modifications were done to the vehicle when applying for insurance. But I definitely could see them denying coverage if an accident or something else occurred where you needed to use the insurance.

Anyone have any brokers that are OK with mods? Its just a bilsten 6112/5160 lift and some 285s.

Unfortunately, the ways in which insurance companies work are extremely customer-hostile. You would need to call insurance companies one by one and speak with them. It also depends on the person with whom you are speaking. In my experience, some underwriters' information can be contradicted by another one in the same company. I know I didn't declare mine, but it's far from your setup. Most of us are just gambling here, I guess.

One member @Joe23 had his insured with Economical where they were aware of ARB front bumper, mid travel suspension by Total Chaos etc... give them a call, but again, need to get to the right person.

    That's rough.

I have my truck insured via Farmers. When I first got it, it was stock. I then modded some stuff, took it to the desert and destroyed it. Insurance worked with me, I was able to file a claim and get repair costs covered. They also let me repair what I wanted, with the caveat that whatever issues I didn't repair here, they wouldn't cover in the future. They also let me use the shop I wanted to.

That said, I think I got fairly lucky because my adjuster for that claim was also an offroad, and let me add the mods to increase value of my truck to avoid a salvage payout. I don't think most adjusters would do that.

I recently had to send in pictures of my truck to my current agent to renew the policy, and it's been modded to hell since then. They didn't say anything about the extras and my policy got renewed. At some point this month i'll be calling to see if I can pay a little extra to insure the new mods.

You must be in the states? I don't think we have farmers up here in Canada. It's really bullshit how hard it is to insure our mods it seems like. Without paying out the a##

Checked with mine I never knew it might be an issue??? Now I know so thank you for bringing it up. Mine told me 99% of lifts get rejected which is a bit scary she said tires and rims not an issue as long as they meet OEM specs but it’s often up to the adjuster and sometimes the body shop will chime in if they think it in any way lead to the wreck. Body mods are at risk as well but as most of us ouu trucks for daily use it would have to be pretty modded up to get declined. Eugene is right check with your broker but mine said most don’t say anything about mods and hope for the best if they get in an accident

    Check build thread!
Find a really good broker. Become friends with him. My mom’s been getting insurance thru her broker since she was 16 (she’s 59 now) and she pays around 120 a month on a lifted jeep. With tickets lol. Those guys are wizards if they like you.
