Short or long nipple flows slower than its latest "no nipple" model, but will control the oil flow for you. The nipple just lets you attach a drain tube. OR ... buy the latest/fastest flow if you need to drain it as quickly as possible.

For install ... tighten to hand-tight, then 1/4 turn more with a wrench. Mine has not leaked at all after that.

    Thanks all
Loved changing oil on my 2nd gen………

hate the overpriced oil changes of the 3 rd gen, the mess and the overtightened oil filter housing and drain plug with power tools from the dealer……

I recommend getting the H-001 straight hose end with it. The drain plug points down, so this works great. At stock height there's just enough room to stick a 4L windshield washer jug under it for a no-drip, no-splash drain experience. When the first one fills up, turn off the valve and swap it out for the next container. You can also attach a flexible hose to the end, but I haven't found the need yet.

+1. the big benefit to the short/long nipple and drain tube method is 'plug-in, open, and forget' draining. the worst problem at that point is remembering to close it before refilling the motor-- i've done it... but that time to wait for it to drain is great to do other routine maintenance around the vehicle without needing to monitor the oil flow.

being able to drain directly into a jug with a small opening and a screw-top lid is a huge plus for transporting the oil waste mess-free later.

personally, i use the small nipple version on all of my vehicles to facilitate tube connection, but maintain as much clearance as possible
