They are rather weak by comparison to the fork attachments linked above. They also stick out aways from the pivot point where the lift rating is taken, so they don't live nearly as much weight, and if you over do it they will bend bottom of your bucket.

 

I didn't like because I don't agree. Just because there was a failure does not mean you were the cause. I am sure many motors have 139 hours on them with no maintenance and run just fine. Some motors destroy themselves in the first ten minutes they are run. I suspect I am not telling you anything you do not know. What would you say to me if our roles were reversed?

 

You can't see thru the bucket to know if you are above, below or spearing what you want to move.

several posts after yours gave you all the good reasons.

thinking of the pivot point.... you are moving it about 18" further forward & really diminishes your lifting ability. also with the bucket forks, they are not very stable side to side.

YES i did start out with a pair of bucket forks, but learned very quickly that the kind of stuff i pick up (always 500-2500lbs) needs stability & as close to the pivot as possible.

plus its much quicker to change a set of QA forks than it is to clamp/bolt & safety bar a set of bucket forks.

also YES: my forks have the 2" receiver in the center & the most important thing about that to remember is that you need a drop ball hitch turned upside down to make a raised ball hitch.

WHY? you ask? cause you have to get the forks below the tongue of the trailer & the tongue above them to be able to turn without jack knifing it or bending a tongue.

tips from experience at work here! you'll see first time you hook it up.

 

You could also push the forks to the middle and take them off the headrack so they are not in the way when moving a trailer around. I know it's extra work and if you know what you're doing you don't need to, but it can be done.

 

There was probably something machined improperly at the factory.

 

Ok, so I ordered the

$819 Titan Attachments UA USA Made Orange Pallet Fork Frame Attachment, 42†Fork Blades, Rated 4000 LB

USA made set. You might kick me, but I decided to go with the 42". When I told my wife I was thinking of spending $ for forks instead of $$$ for grapple she was agreeable. When I went out with the tape measure I convinced myself that 42" was plenty long enough for most all of my needs.

UPDATE: So when I ordered Amazon estimated delivery between 4/3 and 4/5. A little while ago I got an email from FedEx saying delivery is tomorrow Turns out it shipped from Olive Branch, MS.... about 5-1/2 hours from me.

 

I’ve got 42”, 48”, and 60” forks. The 42” are my favorite. They are on the skid steer frame, the 48” are on the tractor frame, the 60” ones are laying in the edge of the woods. I hit too much stuff with them and swapped em out.

 

I figured I would be hitting stuff with the 48's. And the 36 seemed it would be too short. So I did the Goldilocks and The Three Bears thing and hoping the 42's are gonna be "just right"...

 

The benefit of the 42 over the 36 is seeing the tips from the seat. I have 36” and usually stand when getting a pallet. Trees and brush I just go for it.

 

Just for reference standard pallet size is 40x48 you would put forks in the 48 long side the other side has no wood slats to hold with.

 

Today serviced my Stihl fs 90 and used it and mowed 2 of 3 yards.

 

42" will work fine, after all what's 6 more inches gonna do

 

Nice, same one I have. The receiver is nice to have. It also has three spots for hay spears.

Mine shipped in three separate shipments for what it's worth. Frame and each fork was a shipment lol.



Used mine to move some 6x6s.....including one that got just a tiny bit warped lol

 

This is showing as 3 tracking numbers also. Now they're showing one of the packages (the backplate judging by the weight) has an unreadable barcode triggering an "exception". It's unclear to me if this will cause a delivery delay for that box.

 

That's right should have no problem once so ever. How many times are you actually going to be moving pallets around. You'll be good to go.

Perfect. Nice you had the same issue with shipping as @DES2009 with 3 separate packages.

From the LTL driver point of view either the shipper is shipping it that way to save money on shipping cost, or the driver is trying to make his numbers look better with more handling units. Who is the carrier?

 

Got These Spring clip pliers to take me lift cylinder apart to do the seal replacement.

Last time mine were too small and kept slipping.
Might do the in the next few days.

 

I wouldn't worry to much...I see that error somewhat often but never have an issue. It's interesting how they ship but does make a bit of sense.....saves having to package things together. I can't remember if the "backplate" came in a box or not but the forks just had a label slapped on them with no packaging.
