I carry a Fiskars 28" chopping axe and an Estwing 14" sportsman axe "camping hatchet" with the leather wrapped handle, and whatever shovel I can find - D handles are nice but a long pole handle gets carried with me if that's all I've got nearby. Both are exceptional camping/offroading companions however I wouldn't mind grabbing a Milwaukee M18 Fuel chainsaw just in case. Already in on the Milwaukee system so the biggest battle (batteries) is over.

Does anyone know if there’s a point to shovel and axe covers

I have the cover for my Krazy Beaver
    Fiskars axe came with one

but am looking to move it outside to roof rack, to make room in the bed and get it off the bed rail

I suspect under wind the covers might fly off vs simply not using blade covers
It doesn’t seem to have a very strong securing method

gotta be careful out here. If I mount it visible exterior and get rid of the floppy cover showing how nice the teeth look

Local citizen might transfer it over to his rig free of charge
