Hi All, I have yakima jet stream roof racks (has the channel) and am looking for an awning that can go go over the truck bed. Mostly need to know if possible to install awning this way. I see most installs are over the side. Anyone do something similar?

Seems like it would be a lot of weight supported on the edge of one cross bar, especially since the towers only have one bolt connecting them to the roof.

If it was me I would want something that tied both cross bars together that you could mount it to, like a basket. Or I would go with a really light weight awning, like the Yakima Slim Shady 4.5 it's only 22lbs.

Or you could go with a 270 awning.

You could get a bed rack and a tarp, safari style.

I was worried about weight in single bolt too.

I like safari style!! right now I'm working on beach umbrella with pole holder. Seems like this is what I'll end up going with.

I was also toying with the idea of just rolling up a tarp onto the rack. Stretch it out over bed. But I don't have a bed rack...
