I have a 2001 Tacoma and purchasing a 22 TRD pro sequoia this or next week. Will I have emissions issues if I throw a supercharger on the sequoia before moving to Ontario. I don’t care about warranty just if I will have issues crossing the border? Any tips would be helpful. Moving in 3-4 months.

Do we even check for emissions any more? I don't think so

Not from Ontario but I'll rattle off anyway.

It looks like it meets California CARB compliancy. It's 100% legal to import into Canada.

Because its based on the TRD layout it should pass the out of province/out of country. Some out of province shops are insane strict and can deny any modifications.

The 5.7 will pass a smog test with the supercharger, especially on a young 5.7 engine/cats.

You might get taxed on it if you drive back with the packaging for it. So maybe mail your intake back. We've seen it in Alberta with wheels, tires, suspension, they aren't dumb. But because its being imported and you're moving its less likely?

The supercharged 5.7 is a beast, the current calibrations are a lot more tame and protect the engine, the original calibrations always seemed more violent and we saw engine failures. (2-3 on TRD S/Cs alone)

Stick to 8000km/5000mi oil changes with better than bulk 0w20 oil.

Read up on importing a vehicle into Canada. For example, you will need proof there are no open recalls on the vehicle: http://www.riv.ca/RecallClearance.aspx

There's a requirement to get a RIV inspection within 45 days of import: http://www.riv.ca/RIVInspection.aspx Most of the RIV inspection centers are Canadian Tire stores. The RIV inspection is fairly quick according to a couple of sources:
    https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i.../riv-inspection-canadian-tire-ontario.278773/
    https://www.reddit.com/r/Immigratio...porting_a_us_car_i_brought_with_me_im_at_the/

Apparently lift kits are no bueno and the vehicle must have DRLs to pass the RIV inspection. Make sure the supercharger and tune don't trigger a check engine light.

There's a separate safety inspection to get the vehicle plated in Ontario. Again, make sure the supercharger and tune don't trigger a check engine light. Emissions testing in Ontario ended in 2019.

Thank you all for the quick responses, I figure I would ask here as I have never been steered wrong. I figure if I am going to do this once I want to do it right.
