I'd get myself dead... I bought a (new) CB750F back in 1983. Rode it for the summer and sold it the next year. I don't have the requisite common sense to own something like that...

A friend of mine bought a CB1100f about that time. I had an ancient BMW R75/5, so it was no comparison, I never had a chance to keep up with him.
He didn't even realize that he was popping a wheelie pretty much every time he shifted.

And yeah, watching him ride that thing made me realize there's no way I'd be able to hold back on a rocket ship like that, I'd have lived a very exciting but very short life!

 

Same. I rode my brother's Yamaha 750 once, and I scared myself a little bit. If I had ended up getting one of my own back then, God knows what might have happened.

Sold my Kawi 650 LTD in '84. 1st born was on the way and we needed money. Went to my folks place to get it out of winter storage. Riding home I thought ,"Why am I selling this?" Looked at the speedo and I was doing 85 in a 30 zone in front of Monona Grove High school. I didn't want my kids growing up fatherless.

I know all you guys are red tool monkeys, but I don't make that kind of moola so I'm in with old yeller. Any opinions about the chinese knock off stuff? I really like that one battery power pack thing Milwaukee has; however, DeWalter does not offer a similar item. Itsy does! Looks DeWalt but has no markings... I know, you get what you pay for. But in this case they don't have one, so... what says the hive mind?

 

The way I look at it these days, I'm not using my cordless tools every day, so there's no need to spend Red money. My Red cordless drill lasted me 25 years, and I beat the shit out of it. If I get half that out of HF, I'll be OK.

I still have a 23 year old TOOL SHOP chorded angle grinder that works great.
Had I used it daily it'd probably been toast, years ago.

Going back even older I still use my dad's old Black and Decker miter box.
Screams like a banshee but it cuts.

 

I have mostly Ryobi tools. They are cheap, comparitively speaking, yet none have ever failed me, nor failed to do whatever task I've asked.

 

Beat the hell out of Ryobi tools on a government concrete crew for years, never failed.

Use dewalts on my signals crew namow, out in all kinds of weather, they do well

 

What tool are you in need of?

 

I consider Dewalt Milwaukee's closest competitor. Nothing wrong with yellow tools.

I would just go by the reviews.

If you're getting it specifically for the 120V output, make sure that whatever you're plugging in isn't too sensitive. They don't put out a true sine wave AC, but some kind of modified square wave, which apparently doesn't play well with certain sensitive electronics.

I used Ryobi tools up until 2016. I beat them up pretty good, and for the most part they held up pretty well. I actually wasn't a huge fan of some of Milwaukee's earlier cordless tools, but came around when the "Fuel" line came out. I also have a tool shop jigsaw that has worked perfectly fine every time I've ever needed it. Most of the off brand tools available now are probably better than most name brand tools were 10 or 15 years ago.

I had mine along on our TWArk trip. It's pretty handy and I've gotten some good use out of it. I'm really surprised it doesn't come in yellow, honestly.
