it'll only pull whatever it needs. there is a bit of an efficiently curve that exists with them, but usually about 80% rating is the sweet spot. it does up to 3000/ 1500/ whatever it's rated for.

3000W inverter, at 85% efficiency (90% is about the max possible), would mean it needs 3530 watts, or about 294 amps @12v. That's a LOT of amps. My Deep Cycle battery has maybe 46amps of usable capacity (a lot more than a standard starting battery), leaving my battery dead in six minutes time. A standard car battery, normally you'd only use the top 10% of your batteries capacity, not 50% like a deep cycle. And my deep cycle is 92 ah, where a standard battery is 50-60 ah, so 10% of that is 6 usable amp hours. I think my math says you'd get like 1.2 minutes use at 3000w. Now with your engine running, you'd maybe at most have 100amps (someone can help me with a better estimate if you have one, but I'm betting that's on the high side, possibly WAY on the high side.) So you'd be making 1200 W of the 3530, so that's like 1/3 your load, so you'd gain that back. You're up to using it for like 2 minutes before draining a standard battery into capacity loss, hahaha.

My math isn't perfect, but you get the picture.

Quick google search says you shouldn't use a 3000w inverter without a big alternator and multiple batteries.

Lol, well there's a good chance I will sell the 3000w one to a friend and keep the 1500w !

The thing is, will the drain be done according to the appliance being used, or the inverter wattage?

    Let's say i use a 1500w kettle in the 3000w inverter. What's the draw? 1500 or 3000?

I just found out that 3000w is shull@#$.
Its 3000 peak, but only 1500 continuous.
So is the same I already have.
    Some websites label things differently.

3kw??? You need a generator, not an inverter.

You would need a couple alternators to do that amperage. And massive wire. CB guys get close to that to run big ass RF amps.

I run my fridge on a 700w power station and lost like 40% from fri-sun. They don't use a whole lot and it's just a cheap one. A good one will be more efficient

Iceco has the best compressor you can buy! VL45 single zone. Mine was on for about 10 months straight in my man cave loaded with beer. No problems

Buy it when it’s on sale

I have 2 batteries & 2 solar panels. This is my main battery. Make sure your panels can be wired in series & or parallel. You want a battery that can handle high wattage input for charging. I can go for a week with my setup. Make sure the battery can charge while being used

yup! that's something to watch out for. the peak is basically when it surges that it wont just burst into flames at 3000w.

pretty sure you can slap in a GM alternator into a 4runner (which should be the same as his lexus)

    which would solidly help out.

It works with the truck engine running.
After shutting off the engine, it ran only for 5 minutes, it detected a drop in voltage in the battery. But its on high safety setting, so Have to try on medium.

It took a good amount of space. Good thing I didn't buy a bigger one. I will need to check if everything still fits.

Once i find out it can run on the main battery without killing it, i might do a red neck thing.

Buy a 12v extension to pull the power from the battery when the engine is not running , using this cable from my tire compressor

I hardwired a 12v outlet to the battery that I can pull out of the grille

    Too late you already did.
Might be because it's empty. With frozen things inside it dose not run that much.

Cut the alligator clips off and crimp on rings to bolt straight to your battery terminals and you'd prolly be good to go.

I used a bunch of these to hardmount them wherever I needed. You can use with or without the rectangle panel on the front with the screw holes, since the screw ring on the back is another mounting method. Just drill through wherever you want to put it, and flush mount. They also make a small panel that has a switch, and a mix of 12v, USB ports, or a voltage gauge (that might be handy for you to keep an eye on it).

    https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Sea-Sys...rds=blue+sea+12v+socket&qid=1715785549&sr=8-3

Here's an example of the panel. I believe they come pre wired, so you just run power from battery to the switch, and then the switch powers the ports.

    https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Sea-Sys...rds=blue+sea+12v+socket&qid=1715785549&sr=8-4

And here is the voltage meter to help keep an eye on your battery.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CZ2ZXKM?sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9ocXBfc2hhcmVk

I had a ton of fun wiring up all the USB and 12V ports all over my old AT Habitat. Gave me an opportunity to learn about wiring and now I'm pretty confident when it comes to this type of project.

Bunch of options out there, comes down to the "what you cant see" for these fridges nowadays. We prefer the ARB and Dometic fridges for their reliability, customer service and quality of parts. However theyre at the top end of the spectrum for fridge/freezers. Rough Country makes a nice smaller size that pulls less than 40w of power and a portable one that can be disconnected from a power source for up to 20 hours and maintain temperature with its battery pack built in. Rough Country uses LG products on the internals of the fridge as well so for the cost your getting quality components too.

A lot of red neck stuff going on here.

Tried the grinder for a minute without load. No problems.

Plugged the 12v cigarette extension directly to the battery, it kinda works, but the fridge only Kept power for half an hour. Maybe the battery was not fully charged, or i need to further reduce the battery safety level.

It might be a good idea to start thinking about mounting options. Yes, you can just pull it out, hook it up and roll with it but if its raining or dark or your just tired it might help to have it mounted somewhere.
