ok so if youre like me, perhaps you might have stripped your (or a friends) torx bit bed rail bolts, you know the ones that hold the rail against the bed (sorry no pic). well there is a solution! instead of going to the dealer and getting another strippable bolt (not even sure the cost, but probably more expensive) you can go to home depot and get a replacement hex bolt like this:

    its a 6mm x 1.0 x 16 mm.
also you can bring your stripped bolt with you to test fit to be sure but these are long enough for STOCK applications. if you are putting anything behind the bed rails, such as certain tonneaus require, you'll need a longer bolt.
in place on the rails, unpainted:

apologies if this is either old news or useless, but i figured i needed it, so someone else might. hopefully this is the right section lol

Thanks for the info on the replacement bolts. I stripped mine today trying to install my Access Lorado tonneau... Any hints on how to get the bolts out once they're stripped?

Do the sliding tie down points still clear the head with these?

Drill out the nutsert or Dremel off the surface until it falls out but be sure not to expand the hole in the beside. You can either buy a tool to install replacement nutserts or use a longer 6mm bolt and some washers with a power drill instead. There are youtube videos on both. I did the diy version with my cordless impact but bought a few extra nutserts to practice with since the diy method is not foolproof. Too tight and you can break something, too loose and the nutsert either pops out or spins instead of grabbing. I used them to add some extra horn power up
front. The diy method is dirt cheap but takes a few tries to figure it out.
