Short nipple or long makes little difference, my opinion. The onle real difference I think is the "new version" that drains faster than old models.

Might be a stroke of luck.
    For an alternative - fyi

    - I went with valvomax... I liked the design much better. Lower profile and stainless steel.

I believe the F133 was superseded by the F103.

    ^^^^ This!

get the hose kit adapter for the nipple and extend the hose to the oil pan. I usually place the oil pan under the oil filter and start working on the filter while the oil drain.

What is the most -- THE MOST -- important thing in a replacement valve for an oil drain plug?

Not features like tube attachments or rate-of-flow, not mechanical ability to "take hits" from road debris -- it's dependability. To not ever leak or come open unless desired.

Valvomax? No way. An upstart company that has not proved its design with large deployments across multiple decades. By contrast, Fumoto has millions of units installed in fleet vehicles of all sizes -- from compact cars to large heavy machinery -- for > five decades.

Look at the design of the Valvomax, 3 separate O-rings in it, and a pretty wimpy-looking flat wave spring (in the fluid path, no less) holding a free-floating ball in place. Also requires a specific, special "key" to open, another part to keep track of.

    ----

By comparison, the Fumoto design is not only time-tested, it also happens to be the most reliable basic valve design among all the liquid valve types out there -- the simple ball valve. No springs in the fluid path, no O-rings, just the very beefy solid-viton monolithic seal of the ball valve itself.

For those with concerns about the Fumoto lever getting accidentally knocked open, Fumoto sells a $3 spring clip that makes it far, far harder for the lever to get accidentally knocked open.

Welp, FEMCO has been around for >30 years so they must be doing something right as far as reliability.

That said, on casual examination it appears to be a quick-release style valve that depends on O-rings for sealing. In my experience, mostly with air tools and industrial gases at pressures anywhere from 20 to 90 PSI, quick-release valves can be finicky.

Fumoto ball-valve, dead simple, no springs or O-rings in the path of fluid flow.

Not getting anything but a Fumoto. I believe the 133 is an upgraded version for the 103 but both 133 has a faster flow rate. If I can't find an 133 soon I will go with 103.

I knew one had been updated. Don't personally care, I use the Stahlbus. Like the Valvomax, it can't get knocked open and empty out, it has a screw on cap. Use what you wish. I looked around, made my decision and am happy with it.

Even the factory plug can be dislodged if one is too brave or too stupid and lands the truck on its belly (easier without a skid plate than with, but still ...). Definitely not worth ruffling any feathers.

All three cars have fumoto. Wife's Mazda 3 has short nipple. My Miata has 90° elbow nipple. The Tacoma has no nipple.

They all do the job with zero complaints.
