Interior lights were very dim, decided to replace with LED. I did not unhook battery first. All my lights work except map lights. I’ve purchased new, I’ve flipped them around, even put the old ones back. No luck. Fuse is fine.

I read to go ahead and unhook battery to reset, no luck.

Dome works, visor lights work, just map lights.

    Any thoughts?

I'm wondering if it's a bad ground or something.

Were the old lights dim because they weren't getting enough power? Leds are kind of "on or off" at a certain power level.

Only my map lights were dim , not the others. I tried putting the old ones back in and they didn’t come back on.

Could I test the socket with a multimeter?

Have to ask, did you plug the overhead cable back in? and have you checked the switches? Rocker for door or overhead in the right spot? Press the dome lights to make sure they are in the correct positions?

I didn’t unplug any overhead cable.

not sure what you mean by checking switches.

dome light works but funny enough it only works when you turn it on. Not on the door setting.

I read about this happening with others and sometime later they unhooked the battery and it started working correctly.

Could also be a setting in the stereo. Do you still have the OEM one?

This thread talks about it. Post #8-10: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/dome-and-map-lights-not-turning-on-in-door-position.637400/
