I have a Glowshift transmission temp gauge with sensor/sender in hot line from tranny. It is about 2” from the radiator cooler then a Hayden cooler after the radiator cooler, then back to tranny. My temp just before entering radiator cooler 112-115. Does this sound about right? After cooler about 80 degrees before going back to tranny. But 200-250 leaving TC enroute to sensor and radiator cooler. But only for couple seconds. Cools off in a hurry. Wonder how hot it gets in side tranny!!

FastEddy59, thanks for reply to tranny temp issue. Consider this. My sensor is mounted in line from transmission to radiator cooler. Fluid at that point, 3-4 inches from radiator, runs 100-115 f. That’s good, however if I check temperature in line 2’ aft ( nearer transmission) it’s 200 F. So what is temp in transmission?? I shudder to think. I have checked these temps with a handheld infrared device which is pretty accurate. All these figures everyone talks about should be dependent on location of sensor.the fluid location two feet before my sensor location is hell of a lot hotter. But, my 2000 Tacoma has 375k miles and tranny works perfect and has fresh fluid.but I still don’t know if temp is good. All I know is temp right before cooler in radiator is 100-115. Whatcha think??
This with ambient 70, normal driving , non towing, Glowshift temperature gauge

I’d say the average temperature is pretty good then. No need to fix what isn’t broken. I think Scangauge has before & after temps. My system doesn’t but close enough. I watched my temperature go up in deep snow but still stayed acceptable.

But where is temp taken from? In pan, in line from tranny to radiator, in line after both coolers. All depends on sensor location. Could be 3-4 different readings. Still confusing as hell to me
