    I need a volunteer!

I would like to borrow someone's 2nd or 3rd Gen Tacoma to document and install just one side of my internal bed stiffeners.

I still have one remaining set of the "old style" stiffeners which I will be offering at a discounted cost for doing this.

The goal of this exercise is to capture footage of the install process, while highlighting key points that can help make it an easy and successful one.

Will need about 2 hours with your truck (you're more than welcome to be present, enjoy refreshments on me) and be ok with drilling into your vehicle bed for the sake of install.

I will be offering the complete set for only $65. If you have extra time and don't mind lending a hand, I'd be happy to help install the other side as well.

I am in Bakersfield and intrigued. When would you be wanting to do this? Before or after turkey day?

Would definitely be better after T-day.

I've got the first coat of paint done on one side, and will take the next few days to apply a few more coats this way they're not bare metal and ready for install.

Original thread was posted here - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/closed-internal-stiffeners.837114/

with installation instructions starting here - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/closed-internal-stiffeners.837114/page-49#post-30063057

With being a vendor now, I thought I'd step it up and take it upon myself to make a sort of installation video to cover all the major points needed.

The only gotcha here is that this is the old style bed stiffener meaning the passenger side holes on the L bracket are not present for the plastic wire clips. Members have been able to install them anyway without the use of such holes however I may just drill some out to better accommodate the install.

Regular sets will retail for $165.

I’m down for the adventure and more than happy to lend a hand to get both sides installed.

    Perfect!

I had asked for several months in the other thread and everyone is just too far.

A lot of Tacoma owners in my area actually, but none that post in the forum unfortunately.

Well glad you didn’t give up asking  Yeah the Central Valley doesn’t seem to do much on here compared to the true SoCal and NorCal guys.

My schedule is pretty flexible so just hit me up after Thanksgiving and I’m sure we will make a day work to get it done.

Hope you had a good Thanksgiving. Just wanted to touch base and let you know the only day this week I’m not free will be Saturday. Otherwise pretty open if you’re still wanting to film that install.

Yep I didn't forget about ya! I hope you had a good one as well!

Couple of hold ups at the moment.

My GX has been down for the last few days so I'm waiting on a few things to arrive.

Not to mention I need it up and running by Saturday to fit the 300ZX into the garage (the GX is in the driveway).

On the plus side, I went ahead and got all the parts painted and just waiting for the stainless steel hardware for the bedside bolts.

I'm providing all the hardware for this install whereas I offer these kits without.

Hey no worries. Those parts are looking great! And the welding table ain’t half bad either. Appreciate the hardware and good looking parts.

Will be looking forward to hearing from you when you get the other stuff knocked out and ready the next. (There’s always a next project )

    Speaking of, bolts just arrived!

    20241203_184245.jpg

Looking forward to the install too as I'll learn a little more about the whole ordeal. For instance, I stuck with suggesting 30mm length bolts for the exterior bracket but I'm betting I'll be able to go with 25mm or even 20mm to save others money.

    20241203_184406.jpg

All I need is for the GX to be up and running and we can set a date.

And thanks! I've got through several iterations of welding tables and this is the layout I finally settled with.

Bolts look good on there. And looks like the shorter options would still work well.
Great shop set up. I know all about the game of rearranging things. Got a small wood shop in my garage and have changed it 4-5 times in the last few years. If it wasn’t for moving next summer I’d probably be changing it again. But your set up looks great and way too clean! Or maybe my shop is just way too messy with projects.

Mike, a big thank you again for coming all the way out, allowing me to work on your truck, and help get the install done.

Got a number of pictures, short video segments, and list of tools that'll aid other members in performing an install seamlessly.

Had a great time hanging out with you and getting those installed. The quality and finish is top notch. Can assure anyone they won’t be disappointed with these stiffeners.
