I followed the process on this you tube which did seem to direct me in the job OK. EXCEPT for the results! Supposed to cut and ground the blue wire in the connector shown. He does succeed in the you tube, and shows grounded and not grounded. Works for him, not me.
Has anyone here done this successfully? Or, maybe have a different way? If so, I’d like to do it while the truck is still apart. I see I posted on this topic Sept 15, 2024.

Yes there is an alternate way. Install working sensors and have the tire shop use their wizardry to program them to the ECU so the light goes off like it's supposed to work. No wire cutting necessary. You're welcome.

Just buy new sensors. It will cost you less than a tank of gas every 7-10 years and you'll have working sensors. I replace my sensors proactively with every other set of tires. That works out to new sensors for me every 6-7 years. I don't wait for them to die, chances are good mine wouldn't make it through a 3rd set of tires. If you get them replaced when buying new tires there is no charge to install and program them. If you wait until they die the charge to install them basically doubles the cost.

BTW, the sensors in most vehicle don't replace an air gauge. What they do is warn you of a sudden tire deflation while you're driving. Twice I've hit unseen debris in the road and ruined tires. The warning light gave me just enough time to slow down and get to the shoulder of the road before the tire went flat. Without the sensors I'd have had a tire come apart at 70 mph.

Keeping working sensors is too inexpensive not to just use them.

Yep. When the light comes on, I check all 4 tires and add air if needed. If the light is still on, a good reminder to check the air in the spare. It would suck getting a flat and having a flat spare too.

Crack open the speedo, put some tape over the LED. While you're in there, you can also snap off the seat belt alarm speaker. Easy job.

I currently have this issue as well. I'm just going to take it to Discount Tire and let them fix it. After 16+ years it's time.

Honestly, it's good to have the light. I know, I know, everyone here is an expert and doesn't need it. Just like everyone is an expert woodworker until they lose a finger on the circular saw.....

...so, rather than just replacing stuff when it breaks or wears out,. just start voluntarily breaking other stuff in a feeble effort to 'compensate' for it. ...shrewd....

This is an area where the Germans did it better.. at least on newer vehicles. Every late model VW I have rented (Jetta, GTI) does TPMS by checking if any of the wheels are spinning at a different rate than the others. No expensive valves! Just the cheap ol reliable rubber valve stems of the old days.
