Has anyone seen or tried swapping the instrumentation/gauge cluster? I want to use a digital screen system in place of the current one.

Edit: reference vehicle (2022 Tacoma TRD Sport AWD)

    Doubtful, very doubtful.
Contact the manufacturer of whatever you wish to use.

Just what is it you wish to accomplish?

    Pictures and links always help.

So this might be somewhat of a similar example on YouTube. I thought it might be an interesting project to replace the existing with something that might allow me to leverage the new CarPlay.

I would imagine that I’d need to collect data from the vehicle (maybe Bluetooth OBD2?) but I’ve seen something on here in the past that the odometer mileage is stored and also talks to ECU. I’m not sure if there are other limitations if this is an example.

Lastly I would likely need to figure out the CarPlay portion which I’m not sure if it’s an app that needs to be made on a phone. This video talk about side car towards the end.

The mileage of the vehicle is indeed stored in the speedometer cluster - I believe a federal/States law applies that has not changed with all the new electronics. I've driven substantial distances without the cluster installed and the odometer did not change. While the cluster was uninstalled, I believe I also detected an emission odor from the tail pipe which is what prompted me to hurry up and reinstall the cluster so I would have little effect upon the catalytic converters.

Your videos I do not currently have the time to watch.
