OTT and KDMAX - Air/Fuel ratios?

    Interested in the tunes. One piece of data I cannot find is where someone shows an Air/fuel ratio graph during a dyno pull.

    I used to build imports back in the day (Late 90's early 2000's Turbocharged Civics and Integras) and when we tuned there was always a tailpipe sensor to show the A/F ratio as we did the dyno runs to make sure it wasn't too lean or too rich.

    From a question of safety for the engine, is there any data on this? I imagine the margin of error is much greater on a Tacoma vs a turbo'd high compression motor. Still curious though.

    Usually there are two ways to make more power via a tune from a naturally aspirated engine.....make it leaner and advance the timing. I know the Tacoma engine can advance or retard the timing itself a little, but usually there is a limit to how much it can. Perhaps the ECU is more advanced at making adjustments than I realize?

    Some people report increased MPG after the tunes. If the tune leans out the fuel this makes total sense. My question is how lean are we making it?

    Anyone have info?

    Ahhhh....there it is. I guess I overlooked it because the graphs were somewhat lower resolution.

    Looks to be just every so slightly on the leaner side when we get above 4k RPM. Looks like a good chart to me.

    I’m not sure I’ve ever heard anyone consider ~11.9 as “ever so slightly on the leaner side” on a NA truck. What would you consider proper?
